That is a subjective reaction, not an objective design verdict: Jaguar presented it as a physical design concept, not a production car.
What the Jaguar Type 00 is—and is not
Jaguar revealed the Type 00 at Miami Art Week on December 2, 2024, as the physical expression of its “Exuberant Modernism” design philosophy. The company identifies it as a non-production vehicle, so it should be read as a design vision rather than a model available to buy or a specification preview for a finished car. Jaguar’s reveal announcement and its current Type 00 page describe the concept and its purpose.
Why it looks so unusual in person
The visual impact comes from the way several exaggerated forms meet. Jaguar describes a long hood, a sweeping roofline, a fastback profile, 23-inch wheels and boat-tail proportions. Together, they give the car a stretched, sculptural silhouette that does not resemble an ordinary production coupe.
A dramatic side profile
The long hood and roof that flows toward the rear emphasize the car’s length. The 23-inch wheels add visual weight at the corners, while the boat-tail narrows the rear into a distinctive taper. These are documented design features; whether they look elegant, strange or “bizarre” depends on the viewer.

A deliberately abstract front and rear
Jaguar describes flush front surfaces and a glassless tailgate. At the back, horizontal strikethrough elements conceal full-width taillights, while the glazed roof is harmonized with the body. The current Type 00 description also identifies butterfly-opening doors and a pantograph rear hatch. These show-car features contribute to the concept’s theatrical appearance and should not be assumed to carry over unchanged to a production vehicle.
The color depends on which appearance you are looking at
At the Miami reveal, Jaguar showed two colors: Satin Rhodon Rose, nicknamed Miami Pink, and Inception Silver Blue, called London Blue. Jaguar linked the pink to the color of aged brass and Miami’s architecture; the blue referenced the 1960s E-type Opalescent Silver Blue and British heritage. A later Paris appearance was described in ArabWheels coverage as French Ultramarine. That Paris report is a different sighting from the Miami reveal, so the colors should not be treated as alternate names for the same finish.

Color, lighting and camera angle can change how a highly sculpted car reads in an image. The clearest comparison is therefore between views of the same appearance, rather than a Miami photo and a Paris photo presented as though they show identical paint and conditions.
It is a concept, not the Type 01 production car
The Type 00 previews future Jaguar design, but it is distinct from the forthcoming Type 01 production vehicle. Wallpaper*’s August 2026 coverage describes the Type 01 as the production car and reports that its interior retains the Type 00’s central spine and broader architectural language. That points to continuity in design thinking, not proof that the production car will reproduce the Type 00’s body, hardware or proportions. Wallpaper*’s Type 01 report makes the distinction clear.

Jaguar intended a strong first impression
Chief Exterior Designer Constantino Segui Gilabert described the intended response this way: “Jaguar is no place for ordinary. When you see a new Jaguar for the first time, it must have a sense of awe, of never having been seen before.” That is the designer’s stated ambition, not a guarantee that every viewer will feel awe. Still, the Type 00’s outsized proportions and concept-only details make clear why it attracts reactions ranging from fascination to disbelief.
Jaguar has also shown the concept beyond its original launch setting, including a Tokyo installation with artist YOSHIROTTEN and appearances in Paris and Monaco. The company’s Tokyo Future 00 announcement documents that wider public presentation.
