The Hyundai Grandeur is Hyundai’s large flagship sedan, but it is not listed in Hyundai’s U.S. lineup reviewed as of October 2026. Its size, design and place at the top of Hyundai’s range make it tempting to call it an “ultimate Genesis.” That is an editorial comparison, not an official relationship: Genesis identifies the 2026 G90 as its U.S. flagship, and neither brand describes the Grandeur as a G90 successor or equivalent.
What is the Hyundai Grandeur?
The Grandeur is a large sedan whose nameplate dates to 1986. Hyundai introduced its seventh generation in 2022, presenting it as a modern flagship that draws on the model’s history. In some markets outside Korea, the seventh-generation car is sold under the Azera name. Hyundai cautions that specifications vary by market, so the name and equipment on a particular car depend on where it is sold.
Hyundai design chief SangYup Lee described the seventh-generation model as expressing “our respect for the past and commitment to move on to the future” in the company’s October 19, 2022 design announcement. That balance is visible in a sedan designed to look contemporary while invoking earlier Grandeur styling.
Is the Grandeur the same as a Genesis G90?
No. The Grandeur is a Hyundai; the G90 is a Genesis. The Grandeur sits at the top of Hyundai’s sedan range in markets where it is offered, while Genesis calls the 2026 G90 its U.S. flagship sedan. They are useful to compare as large, premium-positioned sedans, but official material reviewed does not establish that the Grandeur is a rebadged Genesis, a direct G90 equivalent, or its successor.

“Ultimate Genesis” works as a subjective shorthand for the Grandeur’s high-end role within Hyundai, not as a description of its corporate identity. The brands’ separate lineups matter: a Grandeur’s features and powertrain depend on its market, and its existence does not mean U.S. buyers can order one through Hyundai dealers.
Is the Hyundai Grandeur sold in the United States?
Hyundai’s U.S. lineup reviewed as of October 2026 does not list the Grandeur. That supports the practical answer that it is not a regular U.S.-market Hyundai model in that lineup; it does not establish that an individual import is impossible or predict whether Hyundai might launch it in the future. Hyundai’s 2022 announcement said the seventh-generation Grandeur would begin rolling out in select markets in 2023, not that it would reach the United States.

Genesis’s 2026 G90 is the relevant official U.S. flagship-sedan reference point, but it should not be treated as proof of a Grandeur-to-G90 equivalence. No future U.S. Grandeur launch plan is established by the cited official material.
How large is the seventh-generation Grandeur?
Hyundai’s 2022 launch announcement gives the seventh-generation Grandeur an overall length of 5,035 mm (about 198.2 inches), 45 mm longer than its predecessor. Those are the manufacturer’s launch specifications; local-market versions may differ. The dimensions help explain why the car reads as a full-size flagship rather than a compact or midsize sedan.

What engines and output did Hyundai announce?
For the model’s 2022 launch, Hyundai listed a 3.5-liter GDi gasoline engine and a 1.6-liter gasoline-turbo hybrid. The company reported maximum output of 300 ps for the 3.5-liter and 180 ps for the hybrid. These are Hyundai’s announced figures for the launch model, not a guarantee that every market or trim offers both powertrains or the same specification.
Hyundai’s 2026 Grandeur price list is for South Korea and is an English translation; the document says the Korean-language list prevails if the two versions conflict. Any Korean prices in that sheet are therefore market-specific and should not be read as U.S. pricing.

What is the Grandeur Heritage Series?
The Heritage Series Grandeur is a retro electric concept Hyundai built around an original first-generation car. Unveiled in 2021 to mark the model’s 35th anniversary, it reinterprets the 1986 sedan with an electric concept-car treatment. Hyundai explicitly says the Heritage Series sedan “will never make production,” so it is not evidence of a production electric Grandeur.
Hyundai’s Heritage article frames the exercise as design inspiration rather than a product announcement. Interior Group head Hak-Soo Ha said that looking back at past work helps designers as they conceive the future. The concept’s significance is what it says about the nameplate’s design history—not a confirmed future powertrain or U.S. model.
