Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →The fastest supercar in this ranking is the YANGWANG U9 Xtreme, which BYD/YANGWANG says reached 496.22 km/h (about 308.3 mph) at Germany’s ATP Automotive Testing Papenburg on 14 September 2025. That is a manufacturer-reported one-way peak—not a two-way average or an independently certified record. The distinction matters: a peak, a two-direction average, a road-car speed limiter and a simulated target are different kinds of claim.
Because “supercar” and “hypercar” are marketing categories rather than a single record class, this list uses a practical rule: include prominent road-going supercars and hypercars with a publicly reported achieved top-speed result, and label what the figure represents. The ranking is by reported achieved peak, not by a universal official standard. A separate section covers fast cars whose headline numbers are specifications or simulations rather than verified runs.
Fastest supercars ranked by reported achieved top speed
The results below are ordered by the highest achieved speed reported in the cited manufacturer material. The run type and vehicle context are part of each entry: they are not interchangeable record conditions.
| Rank | Car | Reported speed | What the figure represents |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | YANGWANG U9 Xtreme | 496.22 km/h (about 308.3 mph) | BYD/YANGWANG-reported single peak at ATP Automotive Testing Papenburg, Germany, on 14 September 2025; not a two-way average. |
| 2 | Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ | 490.484 km/h (304.773 mph) | Bugatti-reported one-way 2019 run by the record car; not a two-way average for customer cars. |
| 3 | Koenigsegg Agera RS | 447.19 km/h (277.87 mph) | Koenigsegg-reported average of two runs, one in each direction, in 2017. |
1. YANGWANG U9 Xtreme — 496.22 km/h
BYD/YANGWANG announced the U9 Xtreme’s 496.22 km/h (about 308.3 mph) Papenburg run on 22 September 2025, describing it as a production-car top-speed record. The company says the run took place eight days earlier and that global production is limited to 30 units. The announcement does not establish an independent record certifier or say that the speed was averaged over runs in both directions, so it is most accurately described as a manufacturer-reported one-way peak. BYD/YANGWANG’s announcement identifies the test venue and its production-car framing; availability in any particular country is not established there.

2. Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+ — 490.484 km/h
Bugatti reported that a Chiron Super Sport 300+ reached 304.773 mph (490.484 km/h) in 2019. This was a one-way peak by the record car, not a two-way average. It should not be mistaken for the ordinary Chiron Super Sport’s specification, nor treated as a demonstrated speed for every customer car. Bugatti describes the 300+ record car as having a body extended by about 25 cm and 1,600 PS; the customer edition was limited to 30 cars, all delivered by 2022. Bugatti’s record announcement provides the run figure and vehicle context, while its delivery announcement covers the customer cars.
3. Koenigsegg Agera RS — 447.19 km/h
The Agera RS result is lower than the two one-way peaks above, but it is a different kind of evidence: Koenigsegg reports a 447.19 km/h (277.87 mph) average from two runs, one in each direction, in 2017. A two-way average helps account for conditions that can favor one direction, which is why it is not directly equivalent to a single peak. Koenigsegg’s Agera RS record history describes the result and protocol.

Why top-speed claims are not all the same
“Fastest” can mean several things, and the distinction changes which car belongs at the top of a list. A one-way peak records the highest speed reached on a run; a two-way average combines opposing-direction runs; a governed specification states a model’s limit; a simulation predicts a possible speed. Only the first two are achieved run results, and they still do not have the same protocol.
- One-way peak: the highest speed reported for a run in one direction. Wind, grade and other conditions may affect the result.
- Two-way average: the mean of runs in opposite directions, a more controlled basis for comparing a record claim.
- Manufacturer-stated limit: a specification or governed top speed, not necessarily a timed record run.
- Simulated target: a modeled theoretical speed, not an achieved result.
Vehicle configuration matters too. A record-test car or special edition may differ from the standard customer model, and production status can mean different things depending on the maker’s criteria. The U9 Xtreme and Chiron 300+ figures are manufacturer announcements; the cited material does not establish independent certification for either run. For a stricter comparison limited to two-way averages, the Agera RS belongs in that category, while the U9 Xtreme and Chiron 300+ should not be presented as two-way records on the evidence cited here.

Bugatti Chiron Super Sport — 440 km/h stated limit
Bugatti gives the standard Chiron Super Sport a top speed of 440 km/h and describes it as curtailed. That is the manufacturer’s model specification, not the Chiron Super Sport 300+’s 2019 record-run figure. Keeping the two models separate avoids turning a special record car’s peak into a standard customer-car limit. Bugatti’s Chiron Super Sport specification states the 440 km/h figure.
Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut — built for speed, no verified top-speed number cited
Koenigsegg presents the Jesko Absolut as its high-speed model. Its specifications include a 5.0-litre twin-turbo V8, 1,280 bhp on standard fuel or 1,600 bhp on E85, and a 0.278 drag coefficient. Those details explain the car’s speed-focused design, but the cited manufacturer page does not report an achieved maximum-speed run. Koenigsegg has also reported a 25.21-second 0–400–0 km/h Jesko Absolut result, a different performance measure that does not establish its top speed; that figure appears in the company’s record history.

Hennessey Venom F5 — 328 mph simulated theoretical maximum
In a February 2024 release, Hennessey called 328 mph the Venom F5’s simulated theoretical maximum—not an achieved top-speed run. The company said it had exceeded 270 mph during development and described breaking 300 mph in two directions as a goal at that time. Those statements should be read as dated development context, not proof that the target was later achieved. Hennessey’s release distinguishes the simulation from its stated goal.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How to read the ranking
This is a ranking of publicly reported achieved top-speed figures, not a universal official leaderboard. It places a single peak and a two-way average in one ordered list because both are achieved results, while labeling the protocol so readers can judge the comparison. A list limited to two-way averages would be a narrower record comparison, not the same ranking. The figures above are manufacturer-reported; the cited sources do not provide independent certification for the two highest entries.
