What Mercedes-AMG’s acceleration claim means
Mercedes-Benz USA’s March 28, 2025 quick reference guide calls the GT 63 S E PERFORMANCE the “Quickest Acceleration of any AMG Series Production model” and lists a manufacturer-claimed 0–60 mph time of 2.7 seconds. Its April 20, 2024 announcement also lists 805 hp of combined system output and the same 0–60 mph claim for the 2025 model. How to read these figures
- Elapsed time is the time taken to cover the quarter mile; lower is quicker.
- Trap speed is the speed recorded at the end of the run. It provides context but does not replace elapsed time when comparing quarter-mile results.
- Test source matters. An instrumented media test is distinct from a manufacturer acceleration claim, and a secondary report should not be treated as equally conclusive to an original test report.
