But there is no Porsche-published, method-consistent ranking of 20 fastest models: top speed, acceleration and lap time are different measures, and the available figures span different eras and configurations. This guide separates those measures rather than presenting an unsupported 20-car order.
How to read Porsche speed figures
Maximum speed describes a car’s claimed peak velocity; 0–100 km/h time describes acceleration; a circuit lap reflects a combination of acceleration, braking, grip, aerodynamics and driver performance. A car that sets a lap record is not automatically the fastest in a straight line.
The figures below are Porsche-published claims or record reports, not results from a single common test. Where Porsche sources conflict, or a figure applies to a specific package or market, that context is stated. The selection is therefore a set of documented Porsche speed standouts, not a complete top 20.
Documented Porsche top-speed standouts
These models have published maximum-speed figures in the available Porsche sources. They are grouped in descending order where the reported figures allow it; historic estimates, different configurations and different source contexts mean this is not a controlled comparison.

| Model and configuration | Porsche-reported top speed | Context |
|---|---|---|
| 911 GT2 RS (2017) | 340 km/h (211 mph) | Porsche described it at launch as the fastest road-approved 911. The same source reports 0–100 km/h in 2.8 seconds. Porsche Newsroom, 30 June 2017 |
| Carrera GT | 330 km/h (205 mph) | Porsche’s historical overview also gives 612 bhp and reports a 2004 Nordschleife lap separately. Porsche Newsroom, 2016 |
| 911 Turbo S (model year 2026, EU/Germany) | 322 km/h (200 mph) | Technical data for the EU (Germany) model; Porsche also specifies 0–100 km/h in 2.5 seconds. Porsche 911 Turbo S technical data, model year 2026 |
| 959 | 315 km/h or 317 km/h (196 or 197 mph) | Porsche’s history overview states 315 km/h; its later Mission X background material says 317 km/h and describes it as a contemporary series-production sports-car record. The sources do not reconcile the difference. History overview; Mission X background, 2024 |
| 911 GT3 (996.1) | 302 km/h (188 mph) | Figure for the 996.1 generation; Porsche lists a different top speed for a later GT3 generation. Porsche Newsroom, 911 GT3 history |
| Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach Package | 305 km/h (190 mph) | Package-specific production-car specification. Porsche also reports 0–100 km/h in 2.2 seconds. Porsche Newsroom, 11 March 2024 |
| Road-going 911 GT1 | 310 km/h (193 mph) | Porsche says a small series was built to meet road-use approval requirements. Porsche Newsroom, 2016 |
| 911 Turbo S (1992) | 290 km/h (180 mph) | Figure for the first series-produced 911 Turbo S generation; Porsche also gives a 0–100 km/h time of 4.6 seconds. Porsche Newsroom, 911 Turbo S history |
| 904 Carrera GTS | Up to 263 km/h (163 mph) | Porsche notes that engine configurations varied; this is a historic, racing-oriented model, not a like-for-like modern road-car comparison. Porsche Newsroom, 2016 |
| 911 Turbo (1973) | 250 km/h (155 mph) | Porsche identifies it as its first series-production model with a turbocharger. Porsche Newsroom, 2016 |
| 550 Spyder | 220 km/h (137 mph) | Porsche’s historic overview figure for a race-developed car; its road-use context differs from current production models. Porsche Newsroom, 2016 |
The list contains 11 documented models or configurations, not 20 independently verified positions. Porsche’s own 2018 speed feature names five notable cars—the 911 Turbo S, Carrera GT, 959 S, 911 GT2 RS and 918 Spyder—but does not publish a uniform top-20 maximum-speed table. Porsche Newsroom, “Superlative speed,” 11 December 2018
Fastest by acceleration: a separate measure
Acceleration figures do not establish top-speed order, and the available numbers cover different model years and configurations. Among the cited figures, the Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach Package is listed at 2.2 seconds from 0–100 km/h; the 2026 EU/Germany 911 Turbo S is listed at 2.5 seconds; and the 2017 911 GT2 RS at 2.8 seconds. These are manufacturer-published specifications, not a same-day comparison test.
Porsche lap records are not top-speed rankings
911 GT2 RS: Nordschleife, 2017
On 20 September 2017, Lars Kern recorded 6:47.3 on the 20.6-km Nürburgring Nordschleife in the 911 GT2 RS. Porsche reported this as a lap record; it is distinct from the car’s 340 km/h claimed maximum speed. Porsche Newsroom, 27 September 2017

918 Spyder: Nordschleife, 2013
Porsche reports a 6:57-minute Nordschleife lap for the 918 Spyder in September 2013, calling it the first road-approved vehicle to break seven minutes. The cited source gives no comparable official maximum-speed figure for the 918 Spyder, so its lap achievement cannot be inserted into the top-speed table. Porsche reported that a Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach Package set a 1:27.87-minute Laguna Seca lap on 23 February 2024, described as a road-approved electric-car record. It also reported a 7:07.55-minute Nordschleife lap for a pre-production version. Those lap claims refer to different tracks and vehicle status; neither changes the 305 km/h top-speed specification for the package-equipped car. Porsche Newsroom, 11 March 2024
Taycan Turbo GT with Manthey Kit: Nordschleife, 2026
In a May 2026 report, Porsche said a Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach Package and the retrofit Manthey Kit completed the 20.832-km Nordschleife in 6:55.533. Porsche also gives this kit-specific configuration a 310 km/h top speed. It is a modified circuit-focused setup, not the standard Weissach-package car, and the lap time should not be merged into a production-car top-speed ranking. Porsche Newsroom, 7 May 2026

Why there is no defensible 20-car order here
The source set establishes notable Porsche figures, but not 20 cars measured or reported on a common basis. Some are historic top-speed claims, others are current market-specific specifications, and still others are circuit results. Filling the remaining slots would require unsupported variants or treating different generations as separate entries without a clear rule. A precise ranking would imply comparability the published evidence does not establish.
For a useful shorthand, the 2017 911 GT2 RS is the highest documented claimed top-speed figure in this selection. That statement is limited to the cited figures, not a claim that it outranks every Porsche ever built under one standardized test.
