There is no defensible all-market ranking of the fastest electric sports cars for 2026 from the available comparable data. The evidence does establish two striking but different benchmarks: Porsche reports a Nürburgring lap record for a specially equipped Taycan Turbo GT, while Rimac lists the Nevera at 412 km/h (258 mph). Those figures measure different things—and neither alone answers every meaning of “fastest.”
What does “fastest” mean for an electric sports car?
Acceleration, maximum speed and circuit pace are separate measures. A 0–100 km/h time describes a launch under specified conditions; a top-speed figure describes maximum velocity; and a lap time depends on the circuit, category, vehicle setup and driver. Range is a separate measure again, and its test cycle matters.
The official figures available here do not create a like-for-like contest: Porsche’s headline result is a track lap in one particular Taycan configuration, while Rimac’s most direct headline figure is the Nevera’s top speed. Neither is an independent, common-condition test of both cars.
Porsche Taycan Turbo GT: a specific Nürburgring record
Porsche says development driver Lars Kern completed the 12.94-mile (20.832 km) Nürburgring Nordschleife in 6:55.553 in May 2026. The car was a Taycan Turbo GT fitted with both the Weissach Package and Manthey Kit, and Porsche identifies the record category as Electric Executive Cars. Porsche also says the time was more than nine seconds quicker than the previous luxury electric vehicle record and 12 seconds quicker than Kern’s 2023 time in a standard Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach Package. These are Porsche-reported results and comparisons, not a general ranking of every electric sports car. Porsche’s record announcement.

Keep that record car distinct from the specifications on Porsche’s international Taycan Turbo model page. That page lists up to 650 kW (884 PS) overboost power and a 0–100 km/h time of 2.7 seconds with Launch Control for the Taycan Turbo model range. It also gives an electric range of up to 637 km, a model-range maximum rather than a promise for every configuration or driving condition. Rimac Nevera: a top-speed benchmark with a rollout caveat
Rimac lists the Nevera at 412 km/h (258 mph) top speed and 1,408 kW (1,914 hp). Its specifications page describes a two-seat electric hypercar limited to 150 units with global homologation. Rimac labels its acceleration results—including 0–60 mph, 0–100 km/h and 0–300 km/h—as measured using a one-foot rollout. That convention allows the car to travel the first foot before timing begins, so those acceleration times should not be compared casually with figures that start timing from a standstill. How to read the 2026 performance figures
- For a circuit benchmark: the Taycan Turbo GT’s 6:55.553 is a Porsche-reported Nordschleife result for the Weissach Package car with the Manthey Kit, in a stated category.
- For top speed: Rimac’s listed 412 km/h (258 mph) is the clearest maximum-speed figure among these sources.
- For acceleration: compare times only when the speed endpoints and timing convention match. Porsche’s cited Taycan Turbo figure specifies Launch Control; Rimac’s acceleration figures use a one-foot rollout.
- For range: distinguish the Porsche page’s “up to” model-range figure from Rimac’s WLTP figure; different test cycles and configurations prevent a simple direct comparison.
Why this is not a complete fastest-car ranking
A fair 2026 market-wide ranking would need a defined geography and current availability, plus comparable acceleration tests, top-speed measurements and circuit results for the same field. The sources here do not establish those facts for all relevant models. Lucid’s investor-relations page announces final production specifications and describes the Air Sapphire as a luxury electric super-sports sedan, but the surfaced information is not enough to place it in a comparable performance ranking. So the useful answer depends on the measure: Porsche has reported a standout Nordschleife lap for a specially prepared Taycan Turbo GT, while Rimac lists an exceptional Nevera top speed. The available figures do not establish one single fastest electric sports car overall for 2026.
