The orange Toyota Supra driven by Brian O’Conner in The Fast and the Furious is identified by Toyota as a 1994 fourth-generation Supra, not a 1995 model. The documented hero car was a factory-turbo example with a 2JZ-GTE engine and four-speed automatic; its film-famous paint, graphics and body parts were modifications, not factory equipment.
What year is Brian’s orange Supra?
Toyota’s account of the film’s primary hero vehicle identifies it as a 1994 Toyota Supra MK IV. Barrett-Jackson likewise catalogs a film-used example as a 1994 car, so the commonly repeated “1995 Supra” label does not match the documented year of this hero car. Toyota’s feature also describes Craig Lieberman as the car’s original owner and a technical adviser to the franchise. Toyota’s account of the movie Supra provides the identification.
“MK IV,” “Mk. IV” and “A80” refer to the fourth-generation Supra. The distinction matters because a 1995 model year may be associated with other Supras or replicas, but it is not the year Toyota gives for the principal orange movie car.
What engine and transmission did the documented film car have?
Barrett-Jackson describes its cataloged film-used Supra as a factory-turbo car with a 3.0-liter 2JZ-GTE inline-six and a four-speed automatic transmission. Toyota’s fourth-generation technical sheet specifies the 2JZ-GTE as a longitudinally mounted, 24-valve, six-cylinder DOHC engine with twin sequential turbochargers. Toyota’s launch information also shows that turbo Supra transmission options varied; the auction listing documents an automatic for this particular car, not for every Supra used in the film. Barrett-Jackson’s car listing and Toyota’s fourth-generation technical material describe the car and engine.

Not every fourth-generation Supra was turbocharged. The engine and transmission details above are specific to the auction-cataloged movie car and should not be treated as specifications for every A80 Supra or every production vehicle used on set.
How the movie car differed from a stock Supra
Barrett-Jackson’s catalog describes modifications on its documented movie car, including Lamborghini Diablo Candy Orange pearl paint, Troy Lee-designed “Nuclear Gladiator” graphics, a Bomex front spoiler and side skirts, a TRD-style hood, an APR aluminum biplane rear wing, and 19-inch Dazz Motorsport Racing Hart M5 wheels. These details identify the cataloged build; they are not Toyota factory specifications, and the listing does not establish that every duplicate or stunt car carried the same parts.

The auction house says the car appeared in the 2001 film, was later modified by its original builder for the role of Slap Jack’s Supra in 2 Fast 2 Furious (2003), and was subsequently returned to its earlier appearance. It describes the example as built by Eddie Paul at The Shark Shop in El Segundo and says Paul Walker drove it in the first film. That provenance applies to the specific auctioned example, not to replicas that share its orange paint or styling.
How much power did the Fast & Furious Supra make?
Toyota USA Newsroom gives the Supra Turbo’s factory 2JZ-GTE figures as 320 hp and 315 lb-ft. Those are model-level factory specifications, not a verified output measurement for the modified movie car. No reliable published modified-horsepower figure is established here, so the film build’s actual output should not be stated as a fact. Toyota’s 2019 retrospective gives the factory figures and reports the car’s past auction result.

What did the movie Supra sell for?
Toyota reported that the movie Supra sold for $185,000 at auction in 2015. That is a historical sale price for that transaction, not a current valuation or a dependable estimate for another movie car, replica or stock Supra.

Orange paint and similar bodywork do not establish that a Supra was used in the film. A meaningful comparison starts with documented provenance and then checks the car’s year, turbo status, transmission and evidenced modifications against the cataloged example. A replica can reproduce a look without sharing the original car’s ownership or production history.
