General Motors reported the time on July 31, 2025, so the lap is no longer forthcoming. It was a U.S. production-spec ZR1 with the ZTK Performance Package, but it was entered in the circuit’s Prototype/Pre-Production category—not as an unmodified showroom car.
What is the Corvette ZR1’s Nürburgring lap time?
The C8 Corvette ZR1’s reported time is 6 minutes, 50.763 seconds for the Nordschleife. GM says Wallace, a vehicle dynamics engineer, drove the car. The automaker reported the lap, its configuration and its category on July 31, 2025.
GM describes the Nordschleife as a 12.9-mile course with 73 corners and nearly 1,000 feet of elevation change. Those are the manufacturer’s descriptive figures; the Nürburgring’s official record procedure specifies a full lap of 20.832 kilometres.
How does the ZR1 compare with the ZR1X and Z06?
GM reported three Corvette laps from its June 2025 Nürburgring visit. They are useful context, but they are not a controlled head-to-head test: different GM staff drove each car, and the published sources do not establish identical weather, traffic or other conditions for each run.

| Model | Reported lap | Driver | Powertrain distinction |
|---|---|---|---|
| Corvette ZR1 | 6:50.763 | Brian Wallace, GM vehicle dynamics engineer | Rear-wheel drive; GM reported 1,064 horsepower for the lap configuration |
| Corvette ZR1X | 6:49.275 | Drew Cattell, GM development staff | Electrified all-wheel drive |
| Corvette Z06 | 7:11.826 | Aaron Link, GM vehicle performance manager | Naturally aspirated V8 |
All times and driver identifications are from GM’s July 2025 report. The ZR1X was 1.488 seconds quicker than the ZR1 in these reported laps. It is a different, electrified all-wheel-drive model, so its time should not be presented as the ZR1’s result. The three drivers were GM engineers or development staff, not professional racecar drivers.
What does an official Nürburgring lap involve?
The Nürburgring’s record-drive rules define a full 20.832-kilometre Nordschleife lap from a flying start, with predefined track length and timing points. The circuit says official attempts use calibrated timekeeping and notary supervision. Vehicles are assigned to categories defined by Germany’s Federal Motor Transport Authority; the ZR1’s listing is Prototype/Pre-Production.
Rank #2
- manufacturer: Motor Max
- Item Trademark: MOTOR MAX
- Item Category: Non Riding Toy Vehicle
That category matters when describing the result: “production-spec” does not mean the car was classified as a regular production-series entry. GM says the ZR1 ran in U.S. production specification and explains its Prototype/Pre-Production listing by noting that the model is not sold in Europe.
What was different about the timed ZR1?
GM says the car had the ZTK Performance Package, carbon-fiber wheels and Michelin Cup 2R summer-only tires. It also had track-recommended safety additions: a roll hoop, full-containment seat, fire extinguisher and six-point harness. These details are why “stock, unmodified showroom car” would be an inaccurate description of the Nürburgring entry.

The 6:50.763 figure is GM’s reported time for this ZR1 in the Nürburgring’s stated full-lap format. It is a meaningful performance benchmark, but it should be read with its category and configuration attached. It is not evidence by itself of a universal Corvette ranking, nor does the reported comparison prove that the ZR1X’s smaller time difference came solely from its powertrain or any single factor.
Rank #4
GM President Mark Reuss characterized the broader effort by saying, “No auto manufacturer has done a Nürburgring lap attempt like this before.” That is GM’s claim, not a conclusion established by the lap-time figures alone.
