Chevrolet’s 2027 Bolt is a limited-run return. Chevrolet has not published an exact final build date, but reporting based on GM officials points to an approximately 18-month production run ending around mid-2027. Treat that as the best available schedule—not a formal GM shutdown notice—and verify inventory before delaying a purchase.
What Chevrolet has officially said
GM ended production of the previous Bolt in December 2023. Chevrolet revived the nameplate for the 2027 model year, building it at Fairfax Assembly in Kansas City, Kansas.

In its October 9, 2025 launch announcement, Chevrolet said the new Bolt would arrive in the first quarter of 2026 and explicitly called it a “limited run model.” Scott Bell, Chevrolet’s vice president, Global Chevrolet, described it as returning “for a limited time.” Neither that announcement nor the later availability update gives a specific last-production date.
Chevrolet said on April 22, 2026 that Bolts were shipping from Fairfax and available at Chevrolet dealers nationwide. That is the latest availability statement covered here; dealer stock and regional allocations can change quickly.

How long will the 2027 Bolt be made?
Automotive reporting citing GM officials who spoke with Bloomberg describes an approximately 18-month production run, with production ending around mid-2027. That estimate is more specific than Chevrolet’s public releases, but it remains a reported schedule rather than an exact date formally announced by GM.
| Timeline | What is established |
|---|---|
| December 2023 | Production of the previous Bolt ended. |
| October 9, 2025 | Chevrolet announced the 2027 Bolt as a limited-run model, to be built at Fairfax and available in the first quarter of 2026. |
| April 22, 2026 | Chevrolet reported that vehicles were shipping and available at dealers nationwide. |
| Around mid-2027 | Approximate end of the reported 18-month run, according to reporting based on GM officials; no precise public shutdown date is stated. |
Why the production window may be short
GM’s June 2025 manufacturing announcement said Fairfax was on track to build the 2027 Bolt by the end of 2025 and would support gas-powered Chevrolet Equinox production beginning in mid-2027. GM also discussed future Fairfax investment for its next generation of affordable EVs.
Those plans provide manufacturing context for a limited Bolt window, but they do not prove that Equinox scheduling is the direct reason for the Bolt’s timing. They also do not confirm when a Bolt successor will launch. No independently verified production volume, exact final build date, or successor date has been established.

What you get if you buy one
Chevrolet’s April 2026 specifications for the 2027 Bolt LT list a $28,995 starting MSRP, including destination freight. Taxes, title, license, dealer fees and optional equipment are excluded, and the dealer sets the final transaction price. This is MSRP, not a guaranteed sale price.
Rank #2
- 1/24 Scale Diecast Model Car
- Opening doors, hood & trunk
- Size 8x3x3 inches
- Window box measures: 9.75"L x 4.5"W x 4"H
| Specification | Chevrolet’s published figure | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Starting price | $28,995 | 2027 Bolt LT MSRP; destination included; other charges and options excluded. |
| Range | Up to 262 miles | EPA estimate on a full charge; actual range varies with conditions. |
| DC fast charging | Up to 150 kW peak | Public DC fast charging; vehicle, battery and charger conditions affect the rate. |
| 10–80% charging | About 25 minutes | Manufacturer estimate; battery state, temperature, charger output and vehicle settings affect time. |
| Charge connector | Native NACS port | Built-in North American Charging Standard connection. |
These are manufacturer claims and specifications, not results from an independent road or charging test. Chevrolet’s earlier launch announcement listed a $29,990 launch-model price and anticipated a $28,995 LT later in the model year; the newer April update is the appropriate current MSRP reference for this article.

A short production run is most important if you need a particular trim, color or equipment combination, or if you want a new Bolt rather than an eventual replacement. It does not mean dealer sales stop on the final build day, and it does not mean parts, warranty work or service support end when assembly stops. The available sources do not quantify remaining dealer inventory or establish how long unsold vehicles will take to sell.
Buying now makes more sense when
- You need an affordable EV during the period when 2027 Bolts are actually available.
- The Bolt’s published range, NACS connector and charging capability fit your regular routes.
- You are comfortable owning a model with a limited production window and do not require a guaranteed continuation of the nameplate.
- A dealer’s written out-the-door price and available configuration meet your budget.
Waiting or choosing another EV makes more sense when
- You need certainty about long-term model continuity or a confirmed successor.
- Your preferred trim or color is not available and you cannot accept a substitute.
- Your local dealer’s transaction price is materially above MSRP.
- You need independently tested range or charging performance before committing; the figures above are Chevrolet estimates.
How to shop a limited-run Bolt
- Check live inventory. Search nearby Chevrolet dealers and confirm that the vehicle is physically allocated, not merely listed as incoming.
- Get an itemized quote. Separate the $28,995 LT MSRP from destination, taxes, registration, dealer fees, accessories and any market adjustment.
- Confirm the exact configuration. Verify trim, exterior and interior color, included equipment and the vehicle identification number when available.
- Match charging to your routine. Confirm that your home setup and the public chargers on your regular routes support the Bolt’s NACS connection and your expected charging times.
- Ask about delivery timing. A reported mid-2027 production endpoint does not guarantee that every dealer can receive a late-build vehicle.
What the mid-2027 date does—and does not—tell you
- It does tell you: shoppers should plan for a finite ordering and allocation period rather than assume indefinite production.
- It does not tell you: the exact final assembly shift, total production volume, final dealer sell-through date, or launch timing for a direct successor.
- It does not imply: that service, warranty coverage or replacement parts disappear when Fairfax stops building Bolts.
In practical terms, the 2027 Bolt is available now according to Chevrolet’s April 2026 update, but its future is intentionally limited. If the car fits your needs, make the decision using current dealer inventory and an itemized transaction price rather than waiting for a guaranteed final date that GM has not published.
