The Bugatti Bolide is a track-only hypercar, not a road car. Bugatti rates its 8.0-liter W16 at 1,600 PS—about 1,578 mechanical horsepower—and says its aerodynamic package can produce up to three tons of downforce. The final car was completed in November 2025, ending the limited production run at 40 examples.
How much horsepower does the Bugatti Bolide have?
Bugatti’s April 2024 production-stage release rates the Bolide’s 8.0-liter W16 at 1,600 PS. Converted from metric horsepower to mechanical horsepower, that is approximately 1,578 hp; the latter is a unit conversion, not a separate output figure. Bugatti’s January 2025 English technical sheet labels its 1,600 figure “hp,” so the documents use inconsistent unit labels. The clearest comparison is to retain the April release’s PS figure and state the conversion explicitly. Bugatti’s April 2024 production announcement and its January 2025 technical sheet provide the respective figures.
The technical sheet also lists 1,600 Nm of maximum torque, a seven-speed DSG transmission and permanent all-wheel drive. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent test results.
How does the Bolide’s aerodynamics work?
Bugatti developed the Bolide around circuit use, using simulation and racetrack testing to refine its aerodynamic behavior. The company claims up to three tons of downforce and lateral forces peaking at 2.5 G. Those are Bugatti’s published claims, not independently verified test results.

The car can be configured for different aerodynamic priorities. Bugatti’s 2024 announcement specifies a top speed of 380 km/h (236 mph) in low-downforce configuration. The January 2025 sheet lists aerodynamic cW × A values of 1.30 in high-downforce configuration and 1.22 in high-speed configuration. Those figures describe distinct setups; they do not establish a complete setup-by-setup downforce or lap-time comparison.
The same 2025 sheet gives acceleration specifications of 0–100 km/h in 2.2 seconds, 0–200 km/h in 5.4 seconds and 0–300 km/h in 11.5 seconds, along with a 380 km/h top speed. These are Bugatti’s published specifications, not independently instrumented results. Bugatti lists a theoretically possible dry weight of 1,450 kg.

What hardware makes the Bolide a track car?
The Bolide’s systems are designed for circuit grip, control and repeatable braking—not just maximum speed. Bugatti says its carbon-fiber composite monocoque was developed with Dallara to the same FIA LMH and LMDh requirements as Le Mans race cars. That does not mean the Bolide is homologated to compete in a particular racing series.
- All-wheel drive: Permanent AWD is specified to help put the W16’s output down.
- Tires and wheels: Michelin Racing Slicks are sized 30/68-18 at the front and 34/71-18 at the rear, mounted on BBS 18-inch forged aluminum racing wheels.
- Brakes: The carbon-carbon system was developed with Brembo. Brembo’s February 2024 account describes two years of testing and an eight-piston front and six-piston rear caliper arrangement; it lists front discs at 390 × 37.5 mm and rear discs at 390 × 34 mm. The later technical sheet presents some disc dimensions differently, so these measurements are specific to Brembo’s account.
- Driver aids: Bugatti highlights ABS and ESP alongside the car’s braking and traction systems.
Bugatti describes the engineering priority as cornering, traction and braking as well as speed. The manufacturer’s account of the brake development is available from Bugatti’s February 2024 brake-system announcement.

Is the Bugatti Bolide street legal?
No. Bugatti describes the Bolide as a racing vehicle not intended for public-road use, and its technical sheet says it has no official public-road operating permit. It is a pure track-use car, not an exceptionally fast road-legal Bugatti.
Ownership is correspondingly specialized. Bugatti’s July 2025 account describes Certified Bolide Centers, accredited technicians, handover and servicing, private-event supervision and trackside support. This is a manufacturer-supported track experience rather than ordinary road-car servicing.

How many Bugatti Bolides were made?
Bugatti announced on 27 November 2025 that the final Bolide had been completed at the Molsheim Atelier and production had concluded. The run was limited to 40 examples; Bugatti described the last car as bespoke for a collector. The series is finished, so the Bolide is not currently orderable as a new production car. Bugatti’s final-car announcement documents the production end.
