There is no official Porsche ranking of Paint to Sample (PTS) colors. For a useful shortlist, start with seven heritage-forward shades—Rubystar, Mintgruen, Maritimeblue, Irishgreen, Vipergreen, Meissenblue and Signalyellow—then check whether your preferred color can be ordered for your exact model and market. Porsche’s Paint to Sample Colour Configurator lets you explore colors on a selected car and view their histories.
Seven Porsche PTS colors worth considering
These are editorial picks, not Porsche recommendations or a ranked list. The colors are among the historic shades named in Porsche’s August 2026 guide. The visual descriptions below are ways to think about their character, not measured comparisons; the guide does not score colors or report owner preferences.

| Color | Why consider it | Good fit if you want |
|---|---|---|
| Rubystar | A vivid, high-impact heritage choice. Porsche’s 2025 account groups Ruby Star with cult colors associated with the 1990s. | A bold alternative to conventional neutrals. |
| Mintgruen | A distinctive, pastel-leaning heritage shade. Porsche also identifies Mint Green as a 1990s cult color. | A lighter, more unusual color statement. |
| Maritimeblue | A classic blue with an explicit Porsche heritage association; the 2025 article also names Maritime Blue among the 1990s cult colors. | A recognizable blue rather than a bright novelty shade. |
| Irishgreen | A heritage-listed green. | A traditional green direction. |
| Vipergreen | A second heritage-listed green, worth comparing with Irishgreen rather than treating all greens as interchangeable. | A less conventional green choice. |
| Meissenblue | A heritage-listed blue alternative to Maritimeblue. | A distinctive blue whose appeal you can judge on your chosen Porsche. |
| Signalyellow | A heritage-listed yellow option. | A high-visibility, unmistakable color statement. |
Porsche’s guide offers color histories alongside the visual configurator, which can help distinguish shades that sound similar in a list. A name or historic association is not a promise that the paint is currently offered for every car.
How to choose a Porsche Paint to Sample color
- Start with the car you intend to order. Open Porsche’s PTS Colour Configurator, select a model, and explore the colors shown for it. Porsche says its palette varies by model and production site.
- Compare the shades on that body shape. Use the configurator to visualize candidates on the selected Porsche and read the associated color histories. Treat an on-screen image as a preview, not a guarantee of how paint will look in every real-world setting.
- Decide what matters most. Weigh heritage, the visual character of the hue on your car, confirmed availability, and whether an extended wait is acceptable. Porsche reports that PTS can take longer than a standard color.
- Confirm the live order details. Continue to the market-specific Porsche Car Configurator and ask a Porsche Centre to confirm availability and order terms for your exact model. The sources here do not establish a universal current PTS price or a complete market-by-market ordering matrix.
What PTS includes—and how PTS Plus differs
Paint to Sample is Porsche’s extended catalog of pre-approved colors beyond the standard series palette. Paint to Sample Plus is a separate bespoke route: the customer brings a color sample to a Porsche Centre, and Porsche assesses feasibility before developing the color. It is not simply another name for the standard PTS catalog.

In Porsche Newsroom’s March 2025 account, standard PTS colors were described as adding around three months to delivery compared with standard colors. The same article gave an average of around nine months for Paint to Sample Plus development, depending on complexity. These are approximate, dated estimates—not current guarantees for a particular order.
Explaining the work behind a bespoke shade, Boris Apenbrink, Porsche Director of Limited Series and Options at Exclusive Manufaktur, said: “Every shade of color must be deemed suitable for many different surfaces and materials, ultimately requiring a perfect color matching,”

How large is Porsche’s PTS palette?
Porsche’s August 2026 guide says standard production models usually have around 12 series colors, while PTS expands the palette to more than 230 exterior shades across the model range. Its model counts are a dated Porsche-reported snapshot, not a guarantee that every listed shade is orderable on every vehicle:
| Model line | PTS colors reported by Porsche as of August 2026 |
|---|---|
| 911 | 153 |
| Taycan | 153 |
| Cayenne | 93 |
| Macan | 59 |
| Panamera | 59 |
Porsche’s undated US individualization page instead says its PTS offering includes over 180 iconic colors. That is a US-market page statement with no date supplied, so it should not be combined with the August 2026 guide’s range-wide count. Porsche’s 2021 announcement of more than 160 pre-approved colors is historical context, not a current inventory figure.
