For U.S. buyers looking specifically at 2026 model-year all-wheel-drive sports cars, Porsche has one clearly documented choice in the available manufacturer information: the 911 Carrera 4S, offered as a coupe, Cabriolet, and Targa 4S. These are three body styles of the same 911 family, not a verified ranking of every AWD sports car on sale worldwide. Confirm model-year availability and inventory in your market before shopping.
Which new AWD sports cars are confirmed for 2026?
Porsche announced the 2026 Carrera 4S coupe and Cabriolet, as well as the Targa 4S, as all-wheel-drive models. The additions brought the 911 AWD range to six variants, according to Porsche’s 2025 announcement. The documentation here supports these three as 2026 U.S. candidates; it does not establish a complete cross-brand list or show that other qualifying cars do not exist.
2026 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S Coupe
The fixed-roof coupe is the most direct fit for buyers who want a traditional sports-car roof. Porsche describes it as a two-seater, with rear seats available at no extra cost. Rear-axle steering is optional.
2026 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S Cabriolet
The Cabriolet adds an open-top roof experience and has rear seats standard. Rear-axle steering is optional, rather than standard as it is on the Targa 4S.

2026 Porsche 911 Targa 4S
The Targa offers a distinct roof configuration between the fixed-roof coupe and Cabriolet. Rear seats and rear-axle steering are standard. Choose it if those features and the Targa roof are a better match than the coupe’s or Cabriolet’s configuration.
What do the three 4S body styles share?
All three use a 3.0-liter twin-turbo flat-six rated by Porsche at 473 hp and 390 lb-ft, paired with an eight-speed Porsche dual-clutch transmission (PDK) driving all four wheels. Porsche describes the AWD system as rear-biased by default, sending more torque to the front axle when needed. These are manufacturer-reported specifications, not independent test results.

Porsche also lists 408 mm front and 380 mm rear brake discs, staggered 20/21-inch Carrera S wheels, and Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus. The 2026 models add equipment and changes relative to their predecessors; check the vehicle’s build sheet for the exact specification of the car you are considering.
How quick is the 2026 Carrera 4S?
Porsche’s U.S. announcement gives the Carrera 4S coupe a 0–60 mph time of 3.1 seconds when equipped with Launch Control and the optional Sport Chrono Package, and a top track speed of 191 mph. Porsche USA’s live model page lists 0–60 mph in 3.3 seconds and 191 mph. The acceleration figures carry different stated conditions, so they should not be treated as equivalent measurements or as a contradiction. - Confirm the model year and market. Porsche USA’s live pages have begun showing 2027 variants, so a current page alone may not confirm that a particular car is a new 2026 purchase. Check with a local dealer and the Porsche model page.
- Compare the actual equipment. Confirm whether Sport Chrono is fitted if you are relying on the 3.1-second acceleration claim, and check the vehicle’s build sheet for options such as rear-axle steering on the coupe or Cabriolet.
- Check local stock and delivered price. Request an itemized quote and confirm that the specific car is available as a 2026 model, rather than assuming an online listing or current configurator reflects local inventory.
Do not treat a current BMW USA M4 page as confirmation of a new 2026 alternative: the page surfaced 2027 M4 Competition xDrive information, including a 523 hp rating and 3.4-second 0–60 mph claim.
