That is a R1,527,401 gap. The used figure is a dealer asking price reported by TopAuto—not a confirmed sale or proof of what the first owner paid.
Which Audi is listed for less?
The vehicle is the 2025 Audi RS e-tron GT Quattro, the high-performance RS version of Audi’s electric grand tourer. It is not an e-tron SUV or the non-RS e-tron GT. TopAuto reported that Audi Centre Sandton had an example with just over 5,000km listed on AutoTrader at R1,999,999. TopAuto’s report
How large is the advertised price gap?
| Figure | Amount | What it represents |
|---|---|---|
| Reported 2025 new price | R3,527,400 | New-price benchmark cited by TopAuto |
| Used listing | R1,999,999 | Advertised price for the reported car, not a confirmed transaction |
| Difference | R1,527,401 | Arithmetic subtraction of the asking price from the reported new price |
The figures support saying the car was advertised for about R1.53 million less than the stated new-price benchmark. They do not establish that it actually lost that amount in a completed sale. The original invoice, any discount paid by its first owner, and a transaction record for the used listing are not available in the cited report.
Does “after one year and 5,000km” describe a confirmed depreciation period?
Just over 5,000km is the mileage reported for the listing. The “one year” framing refers to the interval implied by the car’s 2025 model year and the report published on 7 October 2026; it is not a documented date-to-date ownership or sale history. A listing price also is not a formal valuation. The available information does not establish the car’s condition, service or accident history, battery state of health, warranty remaining, or the reason for its asking price.

What does the broader South African market suggest?
TransUnion South Africa’s Q4 2025 Mobility Insights Report puts battery-electric vehicle depreciation at up to 15%–40% in the first three years. It identifies battery state of health and charging availability as factors affecting resale value, and notes price sensitivity in the South African market. This is a broad BEV estimate, not an RS e-tron GT forecast, and it should not be converted into an annual rate for this individual car. TransUnion South Africa’s Q4 2025 Mobility Insights Report
TimesLIVE gives general South African new-car estimates of about 15%–20% depreciation after one year and 30%–40% after five years. Those figures cover cars broadly, not premium electric vehicles specifically, and are not a substitute for comparable completed sales. Mileage, model, market conditions and transaction costs can all affect the gap between a new-price benchmark and a used-car asking price. TimesLIVE’s depreciation explainer

How does it compare with other Audi e-tron GT prices?
Other reported Audi prices illustrate why the exact trim and comparison period matter; they are not direct like-for-like evidence for the RS listing.
| Vehicle and reference | Reported price and mileage | Important distinction |
|---|---|---|
| 2025 RS e-tron GT Quattro | R1,999,999 asking price; just over 5,000km | Compared with a reported 2025 new price of R3,527,400 |
| 2025 e-tron GT Quattro, non-RS | R1,499,900 asking price; 11,000km | TopAuto compared it with a stated 2022 launch price of R2,715,000; different trim and period. TopAuto’s non-RS example |
| RS e-tron GT Quattro at South African launch | R3,300,000 in 2022 | Earlier launch price, not the 2025 new-price benchmark used above. TopAuto’s 2022 launch-price report |
What to check before judging a used EV’s value
A single advertised price cannot show whether a particular car is fairly priced. For a useful comparison, match the details that most affect value:
Rank #3
- Green Speed Collection: This model is part of the Green Speed series, featuring the 5th vehicle out of 5 in this exciting collection
- Manufacturing Origin: Made in Malaysia with quality Hot Wheels standards and attention to detail
- Authentic Scale Model: Features 1:64 scale die cast construction for realistic proportions and durability
- Audi RS E-Tron GT Design: Detailed replica of the high-performance electric Audi RS E-Tron GT sports car
- Collectible Die-Cast Vehicle: High-quality metal construction makes this a durable addition to any Hot Wheels collection
- Exact vehicle: confirm model year, trim and variant rather than comparing an RS with a non-RS car.
- Price basis: distinguish original list price from the first owner’s actual purchase price, and an advertised price from a completed sale or trade-in offer.
- Vehicle history: check mileage, condition, service records and accident history.
- Battery and warranty: ask for battery state-of-health information and confirm what vehicle and battery warranty remains.
Auto.co.za’s valuation guidance likewise says estimates should use the exact make, model, year, variant and mileage. It notes that a dealer offer and a private-sale value can differ because a dealer needs to resell at a profit and carries risk while holding the vehicle. That guidance does not independently value or verify the RS e-tron GT listing. Auto.co.za valuation guidance
