Guinness World Records measured it on 1 March 2022 and recognized it as the world’s longest car. Guinness also reports that it has 26 wheels and can fit more than 75 people—but that capacity is not a count of certified seats.
How long is the American Dream limousine?
Guinness World Records measured the restored American Dream at 30.54 metres (100 ft 1.50 in) on 1 March 2022. The record is listed as the “longest car”; calling it the world’s longest limo is a natural description of the vehicle. Guinness said the measurement edged its own 1986 record.
The limousine began at 18.28 metres (60 feet), then was extended to about 30.5 metres. That makes the record vehicle roughly 40 feet longer than its original form.
How many wheels and how many passengers can it hold?
Guinness describes the American Dream as having 26 wheels and says it can fit more than 75 people. That is a reported capacity, not evidence that 75 formal or legally approved passenger seats were counted.

What is inside the world’s longest limo?
Its unusual amenities include a waterbed, swimming pool with diving board, jacuzzi, bathtub, mini-golf course, helipad, televisions, refrigerator and telephone. Restoration participant Michael Manning told Guinness that the helipad is mounted to the vehicle with steel brackets underneath and can hold up to 5,000 pounds.
How was the American Dream built?
Jay Ohrberg first built the Cadillac Eldorado-based vehicle in Burbank, California, in 1986. Guinness describes it as two sections joined by a central hinge, with V8 engines at both ends. It can be driven from either end or operated rigidly.

The construction timeline has a discrepancy. Guinness’s 2022 account says it was first built in 1986 at 60 feet and later lengthened. A 2015 Guinness retrospective instead says it was “Completed in 1992” and describes a 100-foot car adapted from two Cadillac cars. The published accounts do not explain whether 1992 marks a later extension or another construction milestone, so it should not be treated as an uncontested original build date.
How was it restored?
After years abandoned and rusting, the car was purchased by Michael Dezer in 2019 and shipped to Orlando for restoration, with Michael Manning involved in the work. Guinness reported that the three-year project cost more than $250,000 for shipping, materials and labor.

Can the American Dream be driven on public roads?
It was built to be displayed rather than used as an ordinary road-going limousine. Manning told Guinness, “You really couldn’t put it on the road because it’s too long,” and said it was “built to be put on display.” Although Guinness describes the central hinge and says the vehicle can operate rigidly, restoration-era reporting did not establish whether its original swivel function remained or how it turns after restoration. Tight-turning ability should not be assumed.
