The Chevrolet Bolt is already back: GM said the 2027 model would reach dealers in the first quarter of 2026, then reported nationwide dealer availability in April. Chevrolet’s current lineup lists LT and RS trims, an EPA-estimated 262-mile range and a $28,995 starting MSRP for the LT, including destination. The Bolt is positioned as a core affordable option in GM’s EV family, but its role in Chevrolet’s sales mix remains a forecast rather than a confirmed result.
What the returning Bolt offers
Chevrolet identifies the 2027 Bolt as a front-wheel-drive small SUV. The current lineup lists two trims, LT and RS. GM’s published specifications include a 65-kWh battery, 210 horsepower and an EPA-estimated range of 262 miles. These are manufacturer-published figures; actual driving range varies with conditions and configuration.

| Battery | 65 kWh, according to Chevrolet’s current lineup page. |
| EPA-estimated range | 262 miles, according to GM’s April 2026 availability announcement and current lineup page. |
| Power | 210 horsepower, according to Chevrolet’s current lineup page. |
| LT starting MSRP | $28,995 including destination; taxes, title, license, dealer fees and optional equipment are excluded. The dealer sets the final price. GM’s current lineup page lists this price. |
Why GM sees the Bolt as important
The Bolt gives Chevrolet a lower-priced entry point in its electric lineup. In its 2025 announcement, GM forecast that the Bolt and Equinox EV together would account for most of Chevrolet’s 2026 EV volume. That is a company forecast, not a final sales result. GM described the two vehicles as central to its affordable EV strategy.
GM points to shared components as part of its cost strategy. The company says the Bolt shares its motor and power electronics with the Equinox EV, and that its displays are shared with GM mid-size trucks. Chief engineer Jeremy Short said economies of scale were more important to reducing MSRP than simply removing features. He also attributed 15 miles of additional range, compared with the prior Bolt, to improved efficiency in the motor and power electronics while retaining the same battery capacity.

GM says the Bolt’s 65-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery supports its charging strategy. Those explanations are the manufacturer’s account of its design choices, not independent technical validation.
Charging access and speeds
The 2027 Bolt has a native NACS charging port. Chevrolet says the car can use compatible NACS public fast chargers, including compatible Tesla Superchargers; access depends on charger compatibility and availability. Chevrolet lists charging capability of up to 150 kW-plus on DC fast charging and up to 11.5 kW on Level 2 AC charging. GM has reported a 10-to-80-percent charge in 25 minutes at a compatible DC fast charger, but actual time varies with conditions and the charger.
Because the vehicle has a native NACS port, an adapter is not required simply to connect to compatible NACS charging equipment. Check Chevrolet’s Bolt FAQ for current compatibility details.
Price and dealer availability
GM initially announced a launch-model LT MSRP of $29,990, including $1,395 destination freight, and said a later LT would start at $28,995 including destination. Chevrolet’s current lineup page lists the later $28,995 LT starting price. GM reported nationwide dealer availability in April 2026, but that does not mean every dealer has a vehicle in stock or that every trim and configuration is available locally. Confirm inventory and the final transaction price with the dealer.

How it compares with the Equinox EV
The Bolt and Equinox EV serve different needs within Chevrolet’s electric lineup. The Bolt is the smaller, lower-priced choice; the Equinox EV is a larger crossover with more published range on its listed front-wheel-drive configuration. Chevrolet’s lineup page lists the 2026 Equinox EV LT1 at $36,795 starting MSRP and an estimated 319 miles of FWD range. Prices and estimated range depend on model year and configuration, so compare the exact vehicles on offer.
| Published comparison | 2027 Bolt LT | 2026 Equinox EV LT1 |
|---|---|---|
| Starting MSRP | $28,995 including destination, per Chevrolet’s current lineup page. | $36,795, per Chevrolet’s current lineup page. |
| Estimated range | 262 miles EPA-estimated, per Chevrolet’s current lineup page. | 319 miles estimated for FWD, per Chevrolet’s current lineup page. |
| Vehicle type | Front-wheel-drive small SUV, per Chevrolet’s current lineup page. | Larger crossover; the cited lineup details specify the range for FWD. |
Price and range are only part of the decision. Compare trim equipment, interior and cargo needs, charging access and rate, and driver-assistance features on the specific vehicles. Chevrolet’s FAQ addresses whether the Bolt will have Super Cruise; consult its current answer for availability rather than assuming the feature is included on every trim.
What to verify before buying
- Check the dealer’s current inventory, exact trim and configuration, and written out-the-door price.
- Confirm which charging networks and individual stations are compatible and accessible to you.
- Compare the equipment and driver-assistance features on the specific LT or RS vehicle.
- Review the warranty documents supplied with the vehicle. Chevrolet’s FAQ lists an 8-year/100,000-mile battery limited warranty and a 3-year/36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty, while cautioning that full 2027 Bolt warranty details are in the vehicle’s warranty materials.
Range, charging, performance and price figures above are manufacturer-published or EPA-estimated values, not independent real-world test results. Dealer stock and transaction prices can change by location and date.
