A 2025 Gadget Review report described its construction and equipment, but its final Mecum auction result and price have not been established here. That distinction matters: a separate, screen-used Batmobile from Batman Returns (1992) was announced for a 2026 auction, and its estimate does not apply to the 1989 replica.
Which 1989 Batmobile was reported to be heading to auction?
Gadget Review’s April 17, 2025 article concerns an exhibition replica associated with the 1989 film Batman. It explicitly distinguishes the vehicle from the exact Batmobile used on screen. The article describes the replica as built by Hollywood Productions, carrying serial number 1 and accompanied by a Warner Bros. certificate of authenticity. These are details reported by Gadget Review; the corresponding Mecum lot record and documentation have not been independently verified here. Read the 2025 report.
“Warner Bros.-authorized” and “screen-used” describe different things. Authorization and a certificate, as reported in the article, do not make an exhibition replica the production vehicle seen in the film.
What did the reported replica include?
Gadget Review reported the following specifications and features. They should be treated as the article’s account, not as independently confirmed factory or auction documentation:

Two figures sometimes mentioned alongside Batmobile auction coverage belong to other vehicles. Julien’s Auctions announced a $5 million to $7 million estimate for the screen-used Batman Returns hero car at its scheduled November 23, 2026 auction. The same 2026 announcement reports that George Barris’s original 1966 television-series Batmobile sold for $4.6 million in 2013. Neither figure is a valuation or result for the 1989 replica. See Julien’s announcement.

Why the distinction matters to collectors
For a collector, “Batmobile” alone does not establish a vehicle’s identity or provenance. The relevant questions are whether it was screen-used or built for exhibition, what documentation accompanies it, and which production it represents. In this case, the 1989 car’s reported serial number and Warner Bros. certificate are claims in secondary reporting; they do not establish that it was driven in the film or settle its auction outcome.
Keep the separate auction stories separate, too. The 2026 Julien’s announcement concerns the screen-used 1992 Batman Returns car, not the 1989 exhibition replica. Michael Uslan’s line, “This is that car,” in that announcement refers to the Batman Returns hero vehicle.
