The 2025 Corvette Zora did not arrive as an officially confirmed production model. The real 1,000-hp-plus Corvette for 2025 was the 1,064-hp Corvette ZR1. Chevrolet later introduced the hybrid 1,250-hp Corvette that matched the rumored Zora formula as the 2026 Corvette ZR1X.
No officially announced production Corvette named “Zora” arrived for 2025. The accurate story is split between two cars: the 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, which delivered 1,064 horsepower from a twin-turbo V8, and the later 2026 Corvette ZR1X, which combined that engine with front electric drive for 1,250 combined horsepower and all-wheel drive.
In other words, the rumored Zora formula became real in spirit—but Chevrolet called the production hybrid ZR1X, not Zora.
The 2025 Corvette that actually delivered more than 1,000 horsepower
The 2025 Corvette ZR1 was Chevrolet’s confirmed four-digit-horsepower production Corvette. Its mid-engine powertrain uses a twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter LT7 V8 producing:

- No glue or paint needed
- Bonus Custom Wheels Included
- 1,064 horsepower
- 828 lb-ft of torque
- Rear-wheel drive
- Eight-speed dual-clutch transmission
Chevrolet described the ZR1 as the most powerful V8-powered production car from an American automaker. Crucially, it achieved that output without hybrid assistance. The engine itself was responsible for the car’s 1,064-hp rating.
That makes the ZR1 the car most directly connected to the original “1,000-hp Corvette” headline. It was a real 2025 production model, rather than a reported future vehicle with an unconfirmed name.
What the rumored Zora was expected to be
Before Chevrolet revealed the ZR1X, automotive reports and Corvette speculation frequently used the name Zora for an ultimate C8 Corvette. The expected recipe was straightforward:
- The ZR1’s twin-turbocharged V8
- Hybrid electric assistance
- All-wheel drive
- Performance beyond the rear-wheel-drive ZR1
Those reports helped identify the likely direction of the Corvette program, but they did not confirm a production name, final horsepower figure, price, or delivery date. “Zora” was useful shorthand for the rumored flagship, not proof that Chevrolet had approved that name for a 2025 car.
The production hybrid is the 2026 Corvette ZR1X
On June 17, 2025, General Motors officially introduced the 2026 Corvette ZR1X. It is the production Corvette that most closely matches the rumored Zora concept.
The ZR1X combines the ZR1’s 1,064-hp LT7 V8 with a front-axle electric drive unit. Chevrolet and GM list the powertrain at:
Rank #2
- Doors Open
- Pullback Action
- Die Cast Metal Body
- PULL BACK ACTION WITH FREE ROLLING WHEELS
| Specification | 2026 Corvette ZR1X |
|---|---|
| Gas engine | Twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter LT7 V8 |
| V8 output | 1,064 hp |
| Front electric drive | 186 hp |
| Combined output | 1,250 hp |
| Drive system | Electrified all-wheel drive |
| Transmission | Eight-speed dual-clutch transmission |
The 1,250-hp figure is a combined system-output rating. It should not be described as the V8 producing 1,250 horsepower by itself. The internal-combustion engine produces 1,064 horsepower, while the front electric drive adds up to 186 horsepower to the combined system.
ZR1X acceleration claims
Chevrolet lists a manufacturer-claimed 0-to-60-mph time of 1.89 seconds for the ZR1X. It also claims an 8.99-second quarter mile at 157 mph.
Those are Chevrolet claims for closed-course performance, not independent test results. As with any factory acceleration figure, results can vary with tires, surface, temperature, battery state of charge, launch preparation, and testing conditions.
The front electric drive changes the character of the car as well as its headline number. Unlike the rear-wheel-drive ZR1, the ZR1X can use electric torque at the front axle to improve traction during hard launches. That is the technical reason the hybrid model can pursue sub-two-second acceleration despite sharing its core V8 with the ZR1.
Why Chevrolet used the name ZR1X instead of Zora
The name “Zora” has genuine Corvette significance. Zora Arkus-Duntov was a central Corvette engineer and advocate whose work helped shape the car’s performance identity. He also promoted the idea of a mid-engine Corvette long before the C8 Corvette made that architecture a reality.
That history explains why enthusiasts attached the name to a hypothetical ultimate mid-engine Corvette. The association is meaningful, but it is not the same as an official naming decision.

2026 Corvette ZR1X price and availability
GM’s August 6, 2025 pricing announcement listed the following announced MSRPs for the 2026 ZR1X:
| Configuration | Announced MSRP including destination |
|---|---|
| 1LZ coupe | $207,395 |
| 1LZ convertible | $217,395 |
| 3LZ coupe | $218,395 |
| 3LZ convertible | $228,395 |
GM said the ZR1X would be available by the end of 2025. These figures are the announced pricing from that release, not a guarantee of today’s transaction price. Chevrolet pricing, destination charges, options, dealer markups, allocation status, and inventory can change. Anyone shopping for one should verify the current price and availability directly with Chevrolet or an authorized dealer.

2025 ZR1 vs. 2026 ZR1X
| Category | 2025 Corvette ZR1 | 2026 Corvette ZR1X |

| Official name | Corvette ZR1 | Corvette ZR1X |
| Model year | 2025 | 2026 |
| Engine | Twin-turbo 5.5-liter LT7 V8 | Twin-turbo 5.5-liter LT7 V8 plus front electric drive |
| Output | 1,064 hp | 1,250 combined hp |
| Torque/output assistance | 828 lb-ft from the V8 | Hybrid system adds front-axle electric propulsion |
| Driven wheels | Rear-wheel drive | Electrified all-wheel drive |
| Claimed 0–60 mph | Not the ZR1X claim | 1.89 seconds |
| Claimed quarter mile | Not the ZR1X claim | 8.99 seconds at 157 mph |
The distinction matters because the two cars answer different versions of the same question. The ZR1 is the simpler, rear-drive, V8-only four-digit-horsepower Corvette. The ZR1X is the more powerful and traction-focused hybrid flagship.

If you want a tangible reminder of the Corvette that actually delivered four-digit horsepower in 2025, search for a 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 diecast model. Check the scale, body style, trim labeling, manufacturer, and seller description before buying. Do not assume a listing is a Zora or ZR1X replica unless the product description specifically establishes that identity.
