Boylston Street is the marathon’s final stretch and finish-line area. The B.A.A. instructs spectators to watch from outside the course and keep the race route clear. Its spectator guidance explains the restrictions around the official course.
Did Optimus enter the Boston Marathon course?
There is no reliable evidence in the available sources that Optimus entered the official racecourse. The defensible description is that it appeared at the showroom or on the sidelines near the marathon environment.

The marathon also gave Tesla a reason to connect a showroom visit with a major civic occasion. Visitors did not need to seek out a technology conference or investor presentation to encounter Optimus; the robot could be presented as part of the day’s public spectacle.
That makes the appearance meaningful as brand exposure and public familiarization. It does not make the marathon a robotics benchmark.
Public acceptance may be the more interesting test
Putting a humanoid robot in a familiar public setting can serve a social purpose. A robot waving at runners and posing for pictures may seem approachable in a way that a machine shown only inside a factory or laboratory does not.
It is reasonable to interpret the event as an attempt to normalize humanoid robots before they become widely available. The display may also have helped Tesla observe how people respond to Optimus in an ordinary, crowded environment.

Tesla has positioned Optimus as part of its broader humanoid-robot ambition, but this Boston appearance should not be used as evidence for unrelated production targets, future pricing or claims about the robot’s effect on Tesla’s valuation.
The strongest conclusion is narrower: Tesla was willing to put Optimus in front of the public during a major event, and the robot could serve as a visually engaging attraction. Whether it can perform useful work reliably remains a separate question requiring demonstrations with clear evidence about autonomy, safety, repeatability and task performance.
Bottom line
