1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsTesla’s Mad Max is an assertive speed profile for Full Self-Driving (Supervised), not a separate autonomous driving mode. Tesla says it drives faster than Hurry and changes lanes more frequently. A driver may still be cited for a traffic violation while using it; a Reddit post alleges that happened to one user, but does not verify the incident or show that Mad Max routinely breaks road rules.
What Mad Max changes
Tesla describes Mad Max as driving more quickly than the Hurry profile and making more frequent lane changes. The name describes the profile’s relative behavior; it does not promise a particular speed or lane-change pattern. Tesla’s FSD (Supervised) support page says the feature requires driver supervision and “does not make your vehicle autonomous.”

How Tesla says FSD determines speed
Tesla’s Model 3 owner’s manual says speed is determined using the selected profile along with navigation data, historical data from other Tesla vehicles, surrounding traffic speed, and posted speed limits. That description does not establish that the system will always match the limit, nor does it guarantee compliance with traffic laws. Behavior and availability may vary by vehicle, market, configuration, and software version. See Tesla’s Model 3 owner’s manual.
How the profiles compare
| Profile | Relative speed and lane changes, as described by Tesla |
|---|---|
| Standard | Baseline profile in Tesla’s comparison. |
| Hurry | Drives faster and makes more frequent lane changes than Standard. |
| Mad Max | Drives faster and makes more frequent lane changes than Hurry. |
Tesla describes the profiles comparatively, not as fixed speed settings. The descriptions do not establish that a given profile will travel at a specific speed or remain within every posted limit.

Can you get a speeding ticket while using Mad Max?
Yes. Using a driver-assistance feature does not remove the driver’s responsibility to obey traffic laws. A Reddit poster in a thread titled “Citation on FSD” said they received a citation while using Mad Max on a road described as having a 60 mph limit; in a reply, the poster said FSD had been driving at 70 mph minutes before the citation. Those are unverified first-person claims, not an independently confirmed citation, vehicle record, or finding about the system as a whole. Read the Reddit discussion.
The account is not evidence of how often Mad Max exceeds limits or results in citations. The available discussion includes conflicting user claims, and it does not establish a reliable rate of speeding or citations for the profile.

The driver remains responsible for supervision
Tesla warns drivers to pay attention to the roadway and be prepared to act immediately. Its Model 3 manual also says the driver is responsible for deciding whether to stop or continue through an intersection. Mad Max’s more assertive profile does not change those responsibilities: monitor the vehicle and intervene when needed.
