Tesla raised the US price of every Model S and Model X configuration by $5,000 when it introduced modest updates on June 13, 2025. The changes brought new styling details, cabin and suspension updates, and a higher range rating for the Model S AWD. Those launch prices are historical: Cars.com reported in April 2026 that production had ended and Tesla had raised prices on remaining inventory by a further $15,000.
How much did the refreshed Model S and Model X cost?
Car and Driver reported these US starting prices at the June 2025 refresh launch. Kelley Blue Book said its corresponding figures included a $1,390 destination fee and a $250 order fee.

Each configuration was reported to have increased by $5,000. The figures are launch-era prices, not current quotes; fees and local prices should be confirmed against a live listing. Car and Driver reported the prices and increase, while Kelley Blue Book specifies the fee basis.
What changed in the June 2025 refresh?
The update was a minor facelift rather than a new generation. Car and Driver reported exterior, interior and suspension revisions across the two models.

- Model S Plaid aerodynamics: Exterior aerodynamic changes that Tesla said improved high-speed stability.
Tesla’s official account, in wording reproduced by Kelley Blue Book, announced: “Model S & X are now even better – launching today in the US 🇺🇸”
Car and Driver’s June 13, 2025 report details the changes. Manufacturer claims about efficiency, noise and stability should not be read as independently measured outcomes.

Did the Model S range rating improve?
For the non-Plaid Model S, June 2025 coverage reported an EPA-rated range of 410 miles, up from 402 miles. Tesla described the figure as “up to 410 miles,” as reproduced by Kelley Blue Book. It is a historical rating, not a guarantee of real-world driving distance; actual range varies with conditions and use. Car and Driver reported the comparison, and Kelley Blue Book reproduced Tesla’s claim.
What happened to Model S and Model X availability?
In an April 8, 2026 report, Cars.com said Model S and Model X production had been discontinued and Tesla had increased asking prices for remaining inventory by $15,000. Cars.com listed starting prices of $111,380 for Model S and $116,380 for Model X, including destination. Those were reported final-year inventory prices, not the June 2025 refresh launch prices. Availability and asking prices can change, so check Tesla’s current local listings before making a purchase decision. Cars.com’s April 2026 report provides that later context.

Do Tesla’s 2025 delivery figures show how well the S and X sold?
No. Tesla’s January 2, 2026 production and delivery release reported 53,900 vehicles produced and 50,850 delivered in a combined “Other Models” category for 2025. Because that category groups vehicles beyond Model S and Model X, it does not establish individual S or X sales or explain the price changes. Tesla’s production release reports the combined category.

The 2025 increase applied across both models’ AWD and Plaid configurations, while the refresh added incremental equipment and design changes rather than a new generation. Whether those changes justify the higher launch price depends on the configuration and on how much a buyer values the specific range, cabin or space updates. For a purchase today, compare the actual local listing, fee treatment, vehicle condition and whether the car is remaining inventory or used; the 2025 launch prices do not establish today’s price or availability.
