The refreshed five-seat Tesla Model Y listed in China on January 10, 2025, was rated for up to 719 km (about 447 miles) on the CLTC test cycle—but only in the Long Range all-wheel-drive Launch Series. That is the source of the “450-mile” headline, not a verified real-world driving range. Tesla also listed a less expensive rear-wheel-drive version with a 593 km CLTC rating.
What does the “450-mile” Model Y range mean?
The figure refers to the China-market Long Range all-wheel-drive Launch Series, which CnEVPost reported at 719 km CLTC in January 2025. Converting 719 km to miles gives roughly 447 miles, commonly rounded to 450. CLTC is a laboratory test cycle used for China-market range ratings; the figure should not be read as a promise of how far the car will travel in everyday driving. The reviewed reports do not establish an independent road-test result for this trim. CnEVPost’s launch report gives the trim’s range and performance figures.

CnEVPost reported that the 719 km rating was 31 km higher than the previous long-range AWD Model Y’s 688 km CLTC rating. It also reported a 78.4 kWh battery and a 0–100 km/h time of 4.3 seconds for the refreshed long-range AWD version. These are reported specifications for that launch trim, not figures for every Model Y sold in China.

How did the two January 2025 launch versions compare?
Tesla listed two five-seat Launch Series versions in China on January 10, 2025. The following prices and ratings describe that launch listing, not a current 2026 price list.

What features changed on the refreshed Model Y?
Xinhua Finance’s January 2025 launch coverage reported several additions to the China-market refresh:
Rank #2
- Toy Vehicle Form: Car
- Theme: Car
- Ventilated front seats and ambient cabin lighting.
- A silver-coated panoramic roof.
- A longer rear seat and an 8-inch screen for rear-seat controls.
- A camera in the front bumper.
These details describe the China launch reported in January 2025. They do not establish that every later China trim, or Model Y versions sold in other markets, has identical equipment. See Xinhua Finance’s launch coverage for the feature reporting.
What does Tesla claim about range and cabin noise?
Tesla’s global New Model Y page says: “New Model Y also has 5% more range with the same battery energy and more comfortable ride handling compared to earlier Model Y vehicles.” Tesla also says, “The comprehensive redesign has improved cabin quietness.” The page lists reductions of 22% in road noise, 20% in impact noise, and 20% in wind noise. These are Tesla’s manufacturer-reported comparisons; they are not independent test results, and the page’s global comparison does not replace the China trim’s specific CLTC rating. The page was last updated in December 2025: Tesla’s New Model Y page.

Is 719 km still the highest China Model Y range?
No. It is a historical, trim-specific rating for the January 2025 Long Range AWD Launch Series, not a current maximum across all China Model Y variants. CnEVPost reported an 821 km CLTC rating for a five-seat Long Range rear-wheel-drive variant in November 2025. That is a different drivetrain and later configuration; it should not be attributed to the January AWD launch car. CnEVPost’s November 2025 report covers that variant.
Tesla’s Q3 2025 shareholder update also described the Model YL, a longer-wheelbase, three-row, six-seat model launched in China in August 2025. It is a distinct body and seating configuration, not simply another range figure for the five-seat January launch model. See Tesla’s Q3 2025 shareholder update.
Quick Recap
What should buyers check before comparing listings?
- Match the trim and drivetrain: the 719 km figure belongs to the long-range AWD launch version; the later 821 km report concerns a five-seat Long Range RWD variant.
- Check the test cycle: CLTC ratings are not independently verified real-world range results.
- Check the date and market: launch prices and feature reports from January 2025 do not establish today’s China pricing or overseas equipment.
- Use the applicable manual: Tesla’s China-market 2025+ owner-manual page showed software version 2026.26.200.11 when reviewed on October 4, 2026; manuals and vehicle details can change. Tesla’s China Model Y owner manual.
