What Bunkspeed software did Tesla reportedly use?
The reproduced report names Bunkspeed HyperShot and Bunkspeed HyperDrive. It says Tesla used the two tools to create imagery for the virtual launch of the Roadster Sport Edition. The account is reproduced on Scribd; the original Tesla announcement was not located, so the use claim should be understood as reported rather than independently confirmed from Tesla’s own release.
What role did the software play in the launch?
The reported use was for launch imagery, not evidence that Bunkspeed supplied Tesla’s production-car engineering systems or that the tools were used to build the vehicle. In the reproduced passage, Tesla chief designer Franz von Holzhausen is quoted as saying: “The Bunkspeed tools integrate seamlessly within Tesla’s workflow. We make quick decisions on digital models and want to carry the use and interaction with digital models for interior and exterior work through the entire design process.” That statement, too, is available through the secondary reproduction rather than a located original release.
What capabilities were associated with Bunkspeed at the time?
NVIDIA’s historical application catalog described Bunkspeed Suite as photorealistic rendering software with Iray-based ray tracing, animation support, and network rendering. Those are period descriptions, not confirmation of current product availability or specifications. In a 2010 announcement, NVIDIA said Iray had been incorporated into Bunkspeed SHOT; Bunkspeed CEO Philip Lunn characterized it as a way to add rendering focused on photorealism and speed.

Neither identifies Bunkspeed, so those broader descriptions do not establish continued use of the software.
