The Mazda6e pairs a sleek, fastback-style five-door body with a well-equipped cabin, but whether it is comfortable or good value depends on a test drive and the local price. For the UK’s announced 2026 launch specification, Mazda lists two grades at £38,995 and £39,995, with a 78 kWh battery and up to 348 miles of combined WLTP range. Those figures do not describe every European Mazda6e: the Netherlands-announced 2027 model-year car has different grades, prices and range claims.
What the Mazda6e is—and which version these figures describe
The Mazda6e is Mazda’s European battery-electric five-door, shaped with the proportions of a fastback saloon. Mazda says it is the European version of the EZ-6 and was developed with Changan. The first European announcement, in January 2025, listed 68.8 kWh and 80 kWh battery options with claimed ranges of 479 km and 552 km, respectively. Later market announcements specify different line-ups. Mazda UK announced a single 78 kWh LFP-battery version for its 2026 launch specification, while Mazda Motor Nederland announced revised grades and technical claims for the Dutch 2027 model year. Model year, country and trim therefore matter when comparing prices or range.
How much does the Mazda6e cost?
UK: announced 2026 launch prices
Mazda UK’s 10 February 2026 announcement lists the Takumi at £38,995 and Takumi Plus at £39,995. The release said the first cars were expected at UK dealers in summer 2026. Netherlands: announced 2027 model-year prices
Mazda Motor Nederland’s 1 September 2026 announcement lists the following Dutch grades. Prices include the preparation charges, BPM and VAT stated in that release; they are not pan-European prices.

Range, charging and performance
For the UK 2026 launch specification, Mazda quotes a 78 kWh LFP battery, up to 348 miles of combined WLTP range, and a 10–80% charge time of 24 minutes when using a 195 kW DC charger. WLTP is a test-cycle figure, not a promise of the distance in every driving condition, and the stated charging time is tied to the specified charging setup.
The UK car is rear-wheel drive and rated at 258 PS and 290 Nm. Mazda gives a 0–62 mph time of 7.9 seconds. These are manufacturer figures for the UK specification. Mazda UK’s price and specification announcement

For its Dutch 2027 model-year version, Mazda states up to 560 km WLTP range, up to 200 kW DC charging, and up to 392 km of range replenished in 24 minutes. These claims belong to that market and model-year announcement; they should not be substituted for UK specifications. Mazda also says the Dutch update brings suspension revisions, increased maximum acceleration and regenerative braking, and refined driver assistance. Its release does not establish that those changes apply to UK cars.
Design: fastback proportions and distinctive details
Mazda calls the design language “Authentic Modern” and describes a flowing coupé form. UK launch materials highlight frameless doors, an illuminated front Signature Wing, 19-inch aerodynamic wheels, a horizontal rear light bar and an electronically extendable rear spoiler. These details give the car a more formal, saloon-like profile than a conventional upright hatchback.

Jo Stenuit, director of Mazda’s European design studio in Oberursel, Germany, called the exterior “a true expression of its ‘Authentic Modern’ design philosophy.” He also described the Japanese concept of “ma” as an intentional use of emptiness: “By intentionally creating emptiness, Mazda achieves a harmonious balance that enhances both aesthetics and functionality.” These are the designer’s explanations of Mazda’s approach, not independent assessments of practicality. Cabin equipment, materials and luggage space
The UK specification includes a 14.6-inch central touchscreen, a 10.2-inch instrument display, an augmented-reality head-up display and a panoramic glass roof. Mazda lists a 336-litre boot and a 72-litre front boot. These published capacities help describe the storage provision, but do not by themselves show how easily the spaces accommodate a particular family’s luggage or everyday items. For UK trims, Mazda describes Takumi upholstery as black or stone Maztex artificial leather, while Takumi Plus uses tan Nappa leather with woven artificial suede cloth. Equipment and materials should be checked against the country and model year being considered; trim names and specifications are not necessarily consistent across markets.

The equipment list and cabin materials support Mazda’s premium positioning, while the UK launch prices place both announced grades below £40,000. That is a useful starting point for judging the offer, not proof that the car is comfortable or better value than a rival. Mazda’s UK managing director described the price and standard equipment as a “tempting” value proposition, but that is the manufacturer’s promotional view.
A buyer should assess the actual car and compare like with like. On a test drive, pay attention to ride quality on the roads you use, seat comfort, cabin noise, visibility, controls and how the car feels with passengers aboard. For price comparisons, match country, model year, trim and tax basis, then weigh included equipment alongside range and charging claims. Independent road tests and direct competitor comparisons are needed to establish comparative ride comfort, handling, efficiency or value; Mazda’s published specifications alone cannot settle those questions.
