That was not the car’s first announcement: Tesla introduced it in the UK on August 29, 2025, where it was available to configure and order at launch. Tesla’s U.S. page currently lists the Performance trim, but the December 2025 delivery timing quoted at the U.S. order opening was an initial estimate, not a current delivery promise.
What was the Model Y Performance launch date?
There are several dates behind “launch.” Tesla announced the refreshed Performance on August 29, 2025. U.S. orders opened October 1, 2025. Tesla later reported launching the trim and starting production at Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg in its Q3 2025 update, published October 22, 2025.

The announcement, ordering, production and customer-delivery milestones are different. The date that answers when U.S. buyers could place an order is October 1, 2025; it should not be confused with Tesla’s earlier UK announcement or its original delivery estimate.
Can you order the Model Y Performance now?
As of October 8, 2026, Tesla’s U.S. Model Y page lists the Performance trim. Current order timing, price and availability depend on market and configuration, and the available sources do not establish a location-specific delivery estimate for that date. Check Tesla’s live configurator for your location rather than relying on the December 2025 estimate or the launch-period price reported in 2025.

What does the U.S. Model Y Performance offer?
Tesla’s U.S. product page lists these specifications for the Performance configuration:
- 306 miles of EPA-estimated range
- 0–60 mph in 3.3 seconds and a 155 mph top speed
- Dual-motor all-wheel drive
- 21-inch wheels and seating for five
- 76 cubic feet of cargo capacity, a 16-inch center touchscreen and an 8-inch rear touchscreen
These are Tesla’s published figures, not independent test results. For a same-page comparison, Tesla lists the U.S. Model Y Premium at 327 miles of EPA-estimated range and 0–60 mph in 4.3 seconds, with dual-motor all-wheel drive and 19- or 20-inch wheel options. On those published figures, the Performance trades some listed range for quicker acceleration and a higher stated top speed.

How do the UK figures differ?
Tesla’s August 2025 UK announcement listed 460 hp, 360 miles of WLTP range, consumption of 26.07 kWh/100 mi, 0–60 mph in 3.3 seconds and a 155 mph top speed. The 360-mile figure uses the WLTP test cycle and is a UK-market specification; it is not directly comparable to the U.S. page’s 306-mile EPA estimate.
What changed on the refreshed Performance?
Tesla describes the trim as more than a powertrain upgrade. Its announcement lists adaptive suspension, revised chassis hardware and configurable drive modes, alongside exterior and cabin changes:

Tesla also claims its Performance 4DU drive unit delivers 16% more peak torque, 32% more peak power and 22% more continuous power than the preceding drive unit. The company says its aerodynamic package reduces drag by 10%, reduces lift by 64% and improves front-to-rear lift balance by 27% compared with earlier Model Y Performance vehicles. These are manufacturer comparisons, not independent measurements.

Car and Driver reported a U.S. starting price of $59,130 when orders opened on October 1, 2025. That is a dated launch price, not a current quote; Tesla’s live configurator is the appropriate place to check current pricing and regional availability.
