That date marked the start of deliveries for the refreshed model, not the arrival of every seating configuration: a standard-wheelbase seven-seat version appeared later in parts of Europe, while the longer Model Y L is a separate six-seat variant.
When did the refreshed Model Y start deliveries?
Tesla said on April 1, 2025, that the refreshed Model Y was being produced at all four of its factories and “began deliveries in North America in March.” The March date is therefore a past North American delivery start, not a future launch date or a guarantee that every trim and seating layout was then available. Tesla’s announcement also described changes to the cabin, chassis, range and connectivity.
Tesla said the refresh reduced road noise by 22%, impact noise by 20% and wind noise by 20%, and delivered 5% more range with the same battery energy. These are Tesla’s stated figures, not independent test results. Its announcement listed a 320-mile EPA-estimated range and a 4.1-second 0–60 mph time for the AWD trim it described; confirm the specific model-year and trim before using those figures to compare current vehicles. How the seven-seat Model Y and Model Y L differ
“Seven-seat Model Y” can refer to two distinct configurations. The standard-wheelbase Model Y gained a seven-seat option in some European markets in 2026. The Model Y L is a longer-wheelbase, three-row vehicle with six seats arranged 2+2+2—not a seven-seater. Its longer body is intended to provide more space for third-row passengers.

What the seven-seat option cost in Germany
In its February 2026 report, Electrive said the seven-seat option added €2,500 to the German Premium Long Range AWD configuration. It reported base prices of €52,990 for the five-seat version and €55,490 for the seven-seat version, before a processing fee. These are dated German price snapshots, not current prices for every market or a quote for a different trim. Electrive’s German-market report
Electrive attributed luggage figures to Tesla: 381 litres with all seven seats in use and 894 litres with the third row folded. Those figures describe the standard-wheelbase seven-seater in that report; they should not be treated as the Model Y L’s cargo capacity. Electrive, February 2026

How much more room does the Model Y L provide?
Electrive reported that the U.S. Model Y L has a wheelbase 15 centimetres longer and an overall length 18 centimetres greater than the standard Model Y. Cars.com’s July 2026 U.S. comparison reported 31.2 inches of third-row legroom and 38.1 inches of headroom for the Model Y L, compared with 26.5 inches and 34.6 inches, respectively, for the standard Model Y seven-seater. The same comparison listed 89.6 cubic feet of cargo capacity with the second and third rows folded in the Model Y L, versus 73.5 cubic feet in the standard seven-seat Model Y.
