The Tesla Model S Plaid is rated by Tesla at 1,020 hp and a 9.23-second quarter mile at 155 mph, but those figures do not confirm what happens in any particular drag-race compilation. The exact video titled “Tesla Model S Plaid – The Drag Race Compilation” could not be matched to verified footage, so its opponents, race outcomes, and publication date are not established here. The figures and separate race example below provide context without attributing them to that compilation.
What can be verified about the compilation?
The title alone does not establish which cars appear, how many races the edit contains, who wins, or when it was published. Those details require the actual video. A separate race listing is not evidence that its footage appears in this compilation.
For a specific matchup, check the video itself for the cars and their configurations, then look for a clearly shown elapsed time and trap speed. A result from a modified car or a single pass should not be treated as a stock-car comparison or a repeatable benchmark.
How quick is the Model S Plaid?
Tesla’s Model S specifications page lists the Plaid at 1,020 hp, a 0–60 mph time of 1.99 seconds with rollout subtracted, and a quarter mile in 9.23 seconds at a 155 mph trap speed. These are Tesla’s published figures, not results from a single independently instrumented head-to-head race. Tesla Model S specifications

The same page says the 200 mph top speed requires a paid hardware upgrade; without it, Tesla lists a 163 mph limit. The 1.99-second acceleration figure has an important qualification: Tesla subtracts rollout, so it is not directly equivalent to every test’s measured 0–60 time.
Independent instrumented results
Car and Driver’s instrumented test of a 2021 Model S Plaid recorded 2.1 seconds to 60 mph and a 9.4-second quarter mile at 151 mph. The publication notes Tesla’s 0–60 claim uses a drag-strip surface and rollout subtraction, which helps explain why the manufacturer number and an instrumented test should not be compared as if their methods were identical. What can affect a drag-race result?
A race video’s winner is the winner of the pass shown, under the conditions in that footage. It does not, by itself, establish which model is generally quicker. Meaningful comparisons depend on what was actually disclosed:

- Collectible Die-cast: This 1:64 scale model car is part of the Hot Wheels Tesla Model S Plaid Quarter Mile Heroes collection
- Iconic Design: Detailed replica of the Tesla Model S Plaid, capturing its sleek and futuristic styling
- Vibrant Color: Featuring a striking blue paint job that showcases the vehicle's aerodynamic lines
- Compact Size: Measuring approximately 3 inches long, this die-cast model works well for play or display purposes
- High-Quality Construction: Crafted with precision and attention to detail, ensuring a realistic representation of the real vehicle
- Configuration: Is the Plaid stock or modified? Are power figures manufacturer ratings, tuner claims, or otherwise measured?
- Distance and timing: Is the race a standing-start quarter mile? Are elapsed time and trap speed visible, or does the edit show only who crosses first?
- Measurement method: Does a 0–60 figure subtract rollout? A rollout-adjusted claim and an unadjusted measurement are not directly comparable.
- Conditions: Surface, tires, vehicle preparation, and driver can influence a pass when they are part of the source’s disclosed context.
If the video supplies no timing data or setup details, describe only the visible result rather than inferring a repeatable performance advantage.
What Plaid Track Mode and Drag Strip Mode do
Plaid Track Mode
Tesla says Plaid Track Mode changes vehicle dynamics for racetrack and drag-strip use. Its description says the Vehicle Dynamics Controller evaluates steering, accelerator, and brake inputs, permits tire slip, and adjusts torque split. Tesla presents the feature as vehicle-control tuning, not proof of a particular quarter-mile result. Tesla’s Plaid Track Mode explanation

Drag Strip Mode
A Tesla Model S manual copy indexed in an NHTSA document describes Drag Strip Mode as a way to precondition the vehicle before a short-distance race. The cited document does not establish that its instructions apply to every model year or software version. Consult the owner’s manual for the specific car before using a mode or following operating steps. Tesla Model S manual PDF indexed by NHTSA

A DragTimes listing published June 4, 2026 describes a 1,200-hp modified Tesla Model S Plaid racing a 1,250-hp Chevrolet Corvette C8 ZR1X at Apex Motor Club in Arizona. It identifies the event as a quarter-mile race, but the listing alone does not establish the run’s timing, surface conditions, or outcome. It is a comparison involving a modified Plaid, not a stock-versus-stock verdict—and it should not be attributed to the titled compilation without confirming the footage.
