Tesla Model 3 Ludicrous Leak: What the 2024 Details Actually Said

A 2024 configurator-code report linked the Model 3 Ludicrous name to 310 miles of range, 162 mph and a 3.2-second 0–60 time. Those figures were unconfirmed; Tesla now lists the high-performance trim as Model 3 Performance.

The “Model 3 Ludicrous” details were part of a 2024 leak cycle, not a new 2026 announcement. A March 2024 report said Tesla configurator code showed 310 miles of range, a 162 mph top speed and a 3.2-second 0–60 mph time—but warned that the figures might be placeholders. Later reporting identified the refreshed high-performance car as the Model 3 Performance, the name Tesla uses on its current U.S. product page.

What did the 2024 Model 3 Ludicrous leak claim?

On March 11, 2024, Tesla Oracle reported finding these figures in Tesla’s online configurator code:

  • 310 miles (499 km) of range
  • 162 mph (261 km/h) top speed
  • 3.2 seconds for 0–60 mph acceleration

Those were reported code values, not confirmed production specifications. Tesla Oracle explicitly cautioned that they might be placeholders and that launch specifications could differ. The report is evidence of what appeared in the configurator at that time, not proof that a production car launched with those figures. Tesla Oracle’s March 11, 2024 report

Did Tesla release a Model 3 Ludicrous?

The later high-performance refresh was reported under the name Model 3 Performance, rather than Ludicrous. In an April 8, 2024 update, MotorTrend reported that Tesla’s trim would be called Performance and gave a 2.9-second 0–60 mph time. Its April 18 article treated sightings, badging and leaked specifications as uncertain, so its account is reporting about the launch period—not a substitute for current official specifications. Tesla’s current U.S. Model 3 product page also calls the high-performance trim Model 3 Performance. It lists 2.9 seconds for 0–60 mph and a 163 mph top speed. Those are Tesla’s currently advertised figures on the page, accessed October 8, 2026; they should not be conflated with the earlier configurator-code claims. Tesla Model 3

How the leaked and advertised figures compare

Source and date Status and trim name Range 0–60 mph Top speed
Tesla Oracle, March 11, 2024 Figures reported from configurator code; article warned they might be placeholders. The report used the Ludicrous framing. 310 miles (499 km), reported code value 3.2 seconds, reported code value 162 mph (261 km/h), reported code value
MotorTrend, April 2024 Reported information about the refreshed high-performance trim; said the name would be Performance, not Ludicrous. Not stated in the cited report 2.9 seconds, reported by MotorTrend as Tesla’s figure Not stated in the cited report
Tesla U.S. product page, accessed October 8, 2026 Current advertised Model 3 Performance specifications Not quoted here because range varies by market and configuration on the page 2.9 seconds 163 mph

Why the numbers are not a like-for-like comparison

  • They come from different evidence: the 2024 310-mile, 162-mph and 3.2-second figures were attributed to configurator code, while Tesla’s current page presents advertised Model 3 Performance specifications.
  • The trim naming changed in the reporting: “Ludicrous” was associated with the leak, but subsequent reporting and Tesla’s current page use “Performance.”
  • Range needs particular care: Tesla’s page presents multiple range figures across its model configurations. The 310-mile leak value should not be treated as the current range for every Model 3 Performance market or configuration. Tesla notes that actual range and charging performance vary with conditions and configuration.
  • They refer to different moments: the leak reflects what was reported in March 2024; Tesla’s page is a changeable current product listing, accessed October 8, 2026.

What to take away from the “Model 3 Ludicrous specs” search

If you are looking for the historical leak, the reported numbers were 310 miles, 162 mph and 3.2 seconds, with Tesla Oracle’s placeholder warning attached. If you want the current U.S. advertised performance figures, Tesla lists the car as Model 3 Performance, with 2.9 seconds to 60 mph and a 163 mph top speed on its product page. Neither the leak’s range figure nor the Ludicrous name should be presented as a current, confirmed Tesla specification.
