What changed on the Tesla Model 3?
Electrek reported that Tesla North America announced the updates on October 2, 2026. The headline change across the named markets is the larger center display. Performance and Premium AWD also have updated figures, but the changes differ by trim.

The changed specifications are reported in Electrek’s coverage of Tesla’s announcement. The report does not explain what engineering changes account for the Performance range and power figures, so the numbers should not be read as proof of a particular battery, motor or software change.

The reported 16-inch center touchscreen applies to the Model 3 lineup in the United States, Puerto Rico and Mexico. Tesla’s quoted announcement, reproduced by Electrek, says: “Every Model 3 in the US, Puerto Rico & Mexico now comes with a larger 16” display,” according to Electrek’s report on the display rollout.

Tesla’s product page captured for Electrek’s report still showed a 15.4-inch center touchscreen. That page conflicts with the newer announcement and may not yet have reflected it; it is not confirmation that the reported update is unavailable. See Tesla’s Model 3 product page for the listed display specification, bearing in mind the capture-time limitation.
How much range and power does Model 3 Performance have?
Electrek reports that the updated Model 3 Performance is rated at 316 miles of EPA-estimated range, up from the previously reported 309 miles, and has 528 hp of peak power, compared with 510 hp at the trim’s 2024 launch. The report does not establish the cause of either increase or whether existing vehicles can receive an update that changes their specifications.

What changed for Model 3 Premium AWD?
The reported 0–60 mph time for Premium AWD is now 3.8 seconds, compared with 4.2 seconds previously. Electrek says its range remains 346 miles. These acceleration and range figures refer to this trim; do not substitute the Performance trim’s 316-mile figure.

Is the updated Model 3 available in Canada or elsewhere?
The announcement wording reproduced by Electrek names the United States, Puerto Rico and Mexico. It does not establish availability in Canada or any other market. Buyers outside those named locations should check their local Tesla configurator or Tesla representative for specifications applicable to their market and configuration.
