Tech Times reported on March 24, 2025, that the planned restaurant was vacant and food suppliers had backed out. Tesla later said it opened its first California Tesla Diner during 2025, and its current pages describe the West Hollywood location and its services. What the available sources do not establish is which suppliers withdrew or why.
Why the “remains empty” claim is outdated
The headline reflects an earlier point in the project, not the diner’s current reported status. On March 24, 2025, Tech Times described the planned Tesla restaurant as vacant and reported that food suppliers had backed out. Tesla’s 2025 annual filing, filed in 2026, later stated: “In 2025, we opened the first Tesla Diner in California, which offers Supercharging as well as Tesla themed food and merchandise.” The filing confirms an opening during 2025, but does not give an exact opening date.
Tesla now identifies the West Hollywood site as its diner. That later company information means “remains empty” should not be read as a description of the location today.
What is known about the supplier withdrawals?
The supplier part of the 2025 story remains unresolved in the available reporting. The Tech Times article reported that food suppliers had backed out, but the sources available here do not name them or provide an attributable statement explaining their decision. There is therefore no substantiated answer to why they withdrew, and no basis to say those withdrawals caused the diner’s later opening or any operational choice.

What Tesla says visitors can expect
Tesla lists the diner at 7001 Santa Monica Blvd, West Hollywood, California 90038. Its diner page describes a combination of dining, entertainment and Supercharging, including 250+ dining seats, 80 V4 Supercharger stalls, rooftop seating, two 20-meter LED screens, in-vehicle ordering and diner-exclusive merchandise. These are figures and features Tesla publishes; they are not independent measurements.
Tesla Support says customers can dine inside, on the rooftop Skypad or car-side, and that reservations are not available. Charging is not required to eat. The support page also says non-Tesla EVs can charge if they are NACS-enabled and used with an adapter.

Hours: Tesla’s pages describe access differently
Tesla’s diner page advertises 24/7 dining. Tesla Support gives a more specific distinction: the site is open to the public from 6 a.m. to midnight, while customers may order from their Tesla vehicle 24/7. Because these descriptions are not identical, check Tesla’s current listing before visiting rather than assuming the support-page public hours mean the dining offer is available around the clock.
