If you want more color freedom, custom graphics, or a protective colored paint-protection film (PPF), an independent installer may be a better fit. Independent Cybertruck pricing ranges from roughly $3,099 for basic vinyl at one provider to more than $6,999 for design or pattern PPF, depending on the material and scope of work.

Tesla’s official Cybertruck wrap information identifies three finish categories:
#1 Best Overall
- Most Realistic Paint-Replacement: VViViD Vinyls presents the newest evolution in vinyl wrap technology. Our Ultra Gloss range is the result of years of research and development, culminating in an almost mirror-like Gloss that is virtually indistinguishable from a factory paint job.
- Premium Features: To achieve the Ultra Gloss look, VViViD re-designed every aspect of car-wrap vinyl from the ground up. The result is a range of films packed with new technologies to create a stunningly beautiful finish. Conventional vinyl wraps can look good, but Ultra Gloss takes it to the next level.
- Nano Air-Release Technology: Air-release channels built into vinyl adhesive can sometimes create irregularities in the surface, making for a less glossy finish. VViViD’s Ultra Gloss films are the only vinyls that utilize a micro air-release pattern so finely engineered that the result is an almost glass-like finish.
- Stretchable Protective Cap: Unlike other vinyls, VViViD’s Ultra Gloss comes with a protective film that stretches with the vinyl, so you don’t have to remove that protective layer until the installation is complete, reducing the risk of scratches and scuffs.
- VViViD Ultra Gloss vinyls are ready to use right out of the box, no liquids or messy, toxic chemicals needed. For the car enthusiast who demands next-level refinement, with beautiful colors and textures, look no further.
- Matte
- Satin
- Gloss
Tesla’s public wording does not establish a fixed, complete color menu. Instead, the owner discusses the currently available vinyl colors and textures with a Tesla Advisor during the initial service visit. That means an older online color list, a social-media photo, or an independent installer’s catalog should not be treated as Tesla’s guaranteed current inventory.
Independent installer color choices
Independent wrap shops generally offer a broader selection than Tesla’s official service route. Catalogs for Cybertruck work may show black, white, gray, blue, green, red, purple, metallic, frozen, satin, gloss, chrome, color-shifting, and specialty finishes. Availability depends on the installer’s film suppliers, current stock, the Cybertruck-specific pattern, and whether the shop is willing to source a special-order material.
Ask to see a physical or manufacturer sample before ordering. Colors can look different in direct sunlight, shade, and artificial lighting, and a digital image cannot reliably show how a satin, frozen, metallic, or color-shifting film will appear on the Cybertruck’s large angular panels.
Tesla Cybertruck wrap pricing
Tesla’s official price
Tesla’s Shop listing displays a price of $4,000–$4,500 for the Cybertruck/Model 3/Y wrap product. The listing says the price includes the vinyl material and installation.
This should be treated as Tesla’s displayed retail range, not a guaranteed nationwide price. The service is subject to vehicle eligibility, participating-Service-Center availability, and operational changes. The reviewed Tesla Shop page displayed three participating locations:
- Costa Mesa, California
- Santa Clara, California
- West Covina, California
Check the current Tesla Shop and Tesla app workflow before making travel or scheduling plans. A location appearing in a product listing does not by itself guarantee that every Cybertruck or VIN can be booked there.

Independent Cybertruck wrap price examples
One independent Cybertruck installer publishes the following starting prices:
| Service or material | Published starting price |
|---|---|
| Matte or satin black vinyl | From $3,099 |
| Standard matte, satin, or gloss color vinyl | From $3,199 |
| Color-shifting vinyl | From $3,499 |
| Custom design or printed graphics | From $5,199 |
| Chrome finish | From $5,499 |
| Colored PPF | From $5,299 |
| Clear gloss or matte PPF | From $5,899 |
| Design or pattern PPF | From $6,999 |
These are one provider’s starting prices, not a universal Cybertruck rate card. Your quote can change based on full-body versus partial coverage, film type, finish, preparation, dents or scratches, trim and hardware removal, graphics, location, and warranty requirements. Get an itemized written quote rather than comparing only the headline price.
Vinyl wrap versus colored PPF
Vinyl wrap is primarily an appearance-changing product. It can provide a new color or finish at a lower entry price and is available in a particularly broad range of visual effects.
Colored PPF combines a color change with a thicker protective film. The installer reviewed for this guide describes its PPF as approximately 8–10 mil thick, with a self-healing top coat, hydrophobic behavior, and stain resistance. Those added characteristics help explain why colored PPF generally costs more and can take longer to install than basic vinyl.
PPF is not automatically the right choice for every owner. Vinyl may make more sense if your priority is cost, a particular finish, easy appearance changes, or custom graphics. Colored or clear PPF may justify its higher price if protection from road debris, staining, and everyday surface damage matters more than the lowest initial cost. Actual results depend on the specific film, installation quality, maintenance, environmental exposure, and warranty terms.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesHow to get a Tesla-installed Cybertruck wrap
- Check VIN eligibility. Use your Tesla account and app to determine whether the Cybertruck qualifies for the service.
- Review the current Tesla Shop listing. Confirm the displayed price, participating location, and available appointment path before purchasing.
- Confirm the location before payment. The official service is not necessarily available at every Tesla Service Center.
- Attend the initial consultation. Tesla says the owner selects the available vinyl color and texture with a Tesla Advisor after purchase.
- Prepare the vehicle. Tesla says the exterior should generally be free of dents, nicks, and scratches. Surface irregularities can show through the film, and Tesla may require correction before accepting the installation.
- Drop off the vehicle for installation. Tesla says installation may take approximately three to four business days after drop-off. A loaner may be available, but that depends on supply and should be confirmed in advance.
Tesla’s wrap does not include the door jambs. Ask exactly which exterior areas are covered before ordering, especially if you expect a color change to look complete when doors, hatch openings, or other normally hidden areas are exposed.

How to choose an independent Cybertruck installer
An independent shop is usually the better route when you want a color Tesla does not offer, custom graphics, a specialized finish, colored PPF, or a local installer outside Tesla’s participating-Service-Center network.
Request quotes from at least two qualified shops and ask each one to specify:
- Full exterior coverage or only selected panels.
- Vinyl, colored PPF, or clear PPF.
- The exact film manufacturer, product family, color, and finish.
- Whether surface cleaning, adhesive removal, paint correction, dent repair, and scratch repair are included.
- Whether trim, emblems, sensors, lights, handles, or other components will be removed and reinstalled.
- How edges are wrapped and which areas remain exposed.
- The expected downtime and whether the work is performed in a controlled indoor facility.
- The workmanship and material warranty, including exclusions for coatings, washing, lifting, staining, damage, and removal.
- Whether mobile installation is genuinely appropriate for a full Cybertruck wrap. A mobile setup may be convenient for small repairs or limited work, but a controlled shop environment is worth prioritizing for a full-body installation.
One independent provider describes its pre-cut vinyl installation as taking about four hours, while full-body PPF generally takes about two days. Those times are provider-specific estimates and should not be assumed for every shop, film, or Cybertruck condition.
What to do about scratches, dents, coatings, and aftermarket parts
Wrap film follows the shape of the surface underneath it. Dents, sharp nicks, deep scratches, corrosion, and other defects can remain visible or interfere with adhesion. Have the installer inspect the Cybertruck before you commit to a final price.
Existing ceramic coating deserves special attention. Tesla warns that a pre-existing third-party ceramic coating can affect adhesion and may fall outside Tesla’s warranty coverage if it contributes to a wrap problem. Tell Tesla or the independent installer about any coating before scheduling the work; do not assume it can simply be wrapped over without consequences.
Also disclose aftermarket accessories, repaired panels, decals, paint protection, and previous wrap work. These can affect preparation, removal, coverage, and the final quote.

Care, removal, and warranty
Washing
Tesla recommends hand-washing the wrap. Follow the film manufacturer’s care instructions as well as the installer’s guidance, particularly for matte and satin finishes. Avoid assuming that a wash method safe for the bare stainless-steel exterior is automatically appropriate for every wrap film.

Removal
Tesla says most wrap shops should be able to remove the material. If the Tesla-installed wrap splits, tears, or needs replacement, Tesla directs owners to schedule service through the same Service Center that installed it.
Ask who handles removal before installation. A future color change, sale, accident repair, lifting edge, or damaged panel can make removal part of the ownership cost.
Tesla’s stated warranty
Tesla describes a 12-month warranty for issues in Tesla’s installation, subject to the applicable Parts, Body and Paint Repair Limited Warranty and its exclusions. Read the actual warranty terms for coverage boundaries rather than treating the 12-month period as protection against every form of damage, staining, wear, misuse, or film failure.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is the Cybertruck’s factory black the same as a black wrap?
No. Tesla’s Cybertruck body-repair documentation identifies the factory color as Shield Black, with paint code NUE-286E. That is a repair-documentation reference for the factory finish, not proof that Tesla currently offers a matching public wrap color or that an independent film will visually match it.

Should you use a DIY wrap kit?
A full-body Cybertruck wrap is not a sensible beginner project simply because wrap tools are inexpensive. The vehicle’s size, angular panels, edges, alignment, surface preparation, adhesive handling, and the visibility of bubbles or creases make professional installation the safer choice for a complete color change.
Best Value
- 9 in 1 Vinyl Wrap Tools: This vinyl wrap tool kit includes 2 pcs felt squeegees, heat gun, wrapping knifes, vinyl cutter, magnet, wrapping squeegee and working gloves. It could help you to work with most of wrpping needs
- Window Tint Kit: This window tint kit is designed for both beginners and skilled. It could be used in car flim, window tint and wallpaper smoothing. Removing bubbles without leaving any scratch
- Vinyl Wrap Squeegee: 2 Pcs felt squeegees is great for vinyl wrapping. Without leaving any scratches, it could remove the bubbles and smooth the surface. The squeegee could also be used in window tint
- Vinyl Wrap Magnet: Unlike most of vinyl wrap tools, this wrap tools kit contains a magnet which could be adsorbed on the car and various metals
- Vinyl Cutter: Before your wrapping, you need it to cut the film and get smaller to fit your car. With the safe blade design, you don't need to worry about hurting yourself during the cutting
A vehicle vinyl wrap tool kit can still be useful for a small decal, a limited-panel repair, or carefully attempted touch-up work. Typical tools include a felt-edge squeegee, precision knife, heat gun, and surface-preparation supplies. Use those tools only for work within your skill level, and do not treat a low-cost kit as a substitute for professional full-body installation.
Which Cybertruck wrap route is best?
| Your priority | Most suitable route | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Official Tesla purchase and service workflow | Tesla | Materials and installation are included in Tesla’s displayed $4,000–$4,500 price, subject to eligibility and location. |
| Lowest published starting price | Independent vinyl installer | One provider starts at $3,099 for matte or satin black vinyl, although the final quote may be higher. |
| Maximum color and finish choice | Independent installer | Independent shops can source broader vinyl families, specialty finishes, and custom graphics. |
| Color change plus additional surface protection | Colored PPF | It uses a thicker protective film but normally costs more than basic vinyl. |
| Custom branding, artwork, or printed design | Independent installer | Custom graphics and design work are generally handled outside Tesla’s standard wrap workflow. |
For most buyers, the decision comes down to three questions: Is Tesla’s location and current color availability acceptable? Do you want conventional vinyl or protective PPF? And does the quote clearly explain coverage, preparation, warranty, and future removal?
Cybertruck wrap checklist before you pay
- Verify the current Tesla price and participating location if using Tesla.

- Get the exact color and finish in writing.
- Confirm whether jambs, edges, emblems, sensors, and exposed areas are included.
- Disclose ceramic coatings, dents, scratches, repairs, accessories, and prior wraps.
- Compare vinyl with colored PPF rather than comparing only color names.
- Request an itemized quote from any independent installer.
- Ask for expected downtime, indoor-installation details, and warranty exclusions.
- Plan how the wrap will be washed and eventually removed.
Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a Tesla Cybertruck wrap cost?
Tesla’s displayed price is $4,000–$4,500, including materials and installation. It is not necessarily a nationwide guaranteed price because eligibility and participating locations are limited.
What colors can you get for a Tesla Cybertruck wrap?
Tesla identifies matte, satin, and gloss finishes, but its public pages do not provide a complete fixed nationwide color menu. Color and texture are selected with a Tesla Advisor after purchase.
Where can Tesla install a Cybertruck wrap?
Tesla’s reviewed listing displayed Costa Mesa, Santa Clara, and West Covina in California. Availability can change and is VIN-dependent, so confirm the current list in the Tesla app or Tesla Shop before booking.
How long does a Cybertruck wrap take to install?
Tesla says installation may take about three to four business days after drop-off. One independent provider estimates about four hours for its pre-cut vinyl process and about two days for full-body PPF; actual times vary.
Is vinyl or colored PPF better for a Cybertruck?
Vinyl primarily changes appearance. Colored PPF also changes color but uses a thicker protective film and generally costs more. The better choice depends on whether finish variety and lower entry cost or added protection matters more.

The Bottom Line
Bottom line: Tesla’s official Cybertruck wrap is currently displayed at $4,000–$4,500 with materials and installation included, but the service is location- and VIN-dependent and Tesla does not publish a complete guaranteed color list. Independent shops offer more colors, finishes, graphics, vinyl, and colored PPF; compare itemized quotes and confirm coverage, preparation, downtime, and warranty before booking.
