Teraglide’s Model Y extender is an interior sleeping platform, not a powered camper conversion or a device that improves driving range. Its current PRO listing describes a made-to-fit bed that folds into the trunk; when expanded, it spans the cargo area and folded rear seats. The word “efficient” fits its compact use of cabin space—not a measured gain in vehicle energy efficiency.
How the Teraglide bed works
The platform is designed to turn the Model Y’s rear cabin into a sleeping area while keeping the setup removable. Teraglide says the frame folds into the trunk during travel, leaving the rear seats available for passengers, and expands over the folded seats at camp. It attaches without drilling, bolting or gluing to the vehicle.
In a March 19, 2024 article, New Atlas described an earlier version with interlocking slats that contracted over the trunk while driving and slid over the folded rear bench at camp. Two removable side wings added width. That account is useful for understanding the design, but its measurements differ from the current PRO listing.
Current Model Y fit and dimensions
Teraglide’s current PRO product page says its platforms are made for specific vehicles and lists both five-seat Model Y generations, including Juniper. For the Model Y, the page gives these dimensions; they are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements:

The New Atlas article’s March 2024 account gave the earlier extender’s sleeping surface as 186 × 127 cm (73 × 50 in), tapering to 92 cm (36 in) near the rear contours. That is not the same figure as the current PRO listing’s 193 × 127 cm (76 × 50 in). For a fit decision, use the current listing for the exact platform and vehicle configuration rather than assuming the article-era dimensions still apply. Before ordering, confirm the vehicle generation and configuration against the listing. Teraglide offers two elevation choices and solo or couple configurations, so check that the selected version suits the intended sleeping arrangement.

What is included, and what is optional?
Teraglide says the listed package includes the bed frame, straps, a tool and instructions. The platform ships flat-packed and requires assembly. A drawer and clip-on bamboo table depend on the chosen configuration, so check the selected option rather than assuming they come with every bed.
The maker describes the frame as black birch hex plywood, with a carpet-lined drawer bottom and a bamboo table where selected. Teraglide also says the product is made in New Zealand using renewable electricity; these are manufacturer statements.

Load limits and the separate CAB platform
Teraglide lists the mattress base as tested to 180 kg (400 lb), the drawer as rated to 50 kg (110 lb), and the folding table as tested to 15 kg (33 lb). These are manufacturer-reported figures; the product page does not provide independent test reports.
The CAB is a separate front-seat platform, not the rear extender or a two-person adult bed. Teraglide describes it as an extra sleeping spot that stores in the frunk, for a user up to 120 cm (4 ft) and 30 kg (70 lb). Teraglide CAB product page.

Is a mattress included?
Teraglide presents a mattress as a companion to the platform, but the reviewed product information does not establish a particular compatible mattress model or verify any marketplace listing. Treat the mattress as a separate purchase unless the exact configuration you select says otherwise, and confirm its dimensions against the bed and vehicle before buying.
