Its 23 L tank, 240 mm of ground clearance and 689 cc twin are balanced by a listed wet weight of 220 kg and an 890 mm seat. Whether that is the right balance depends on your routes, riding experience and ability to handle the bike at low speed.
What the 2026 World Raid offers
Yamaha’s 2026 specifications describe a liquid-cooled, 689 cc, two-cylinder DOHC engine rated at 54.0 kW (73.4 PS) at 9,000 rpm and 68 Nm at 6,500 rpm. It is paired with a six-speed transmission and chain final drive. These are manufacturer figures, not independent test results. Yamaha Motor Europe’s 2026 World Raid product page and factsheet provide the specifications.
For mixed-surface use, Yamaha lists 230 mm of front suspension travel, 220 mm at the rear and 240 mm of minimum ground clearance. The wheel sizes are 21 inches at the front and 18 inches at the rear. Those dimensions point to an off-road-oriented setup, but specifications alone do not establish how the bike will feel on a particular trail or under a particular rider.
How the fuel capacity affects trip planning
The World Raid has a listed 23 L fuel capacity. Yamaha also lists fuel consumption at 4.3 L/100 km. Treat that consumption figure as a manufacturer-listed value, not a guaranteed real-world result: load, speed, terrain and riding conditions affect consumption. Multiplying tank capacity by the listed consumption does not establish a dependable usable range, so plan fuel stops around your route and conditions rather than relying on a calculated maximum.

Weight and seat height are part of the balance
Yamaha lists the World Raid at 220 kg wet, including full oil and fuel, with a seat height of 890 mm. The height can make it harder for some riders to plant a foot securely, while the mass matters when turning around, picking through obstacles or managing a loaded bike on uneven ground. Rider height alone does not determine fit; inseam, footwear, balance and experience matter too. A stationary fit check and a test ride, where available, are more useful than assuming the figures will suit or exclude every rider.

The World Raid has the largest tank and the highest listed wet weight of the three. Its seat is lower than the Rally’s but higher than the standard model’s. All three are listed with the same engine capacity and maximum power. Yamaha’s brochure also gives the World Raid’s suspension travel and clearance; confirm corresponding details for the other trims and your market before making a detailed suspension comparison. Yamaha Motor Europe’s 2026 brochure is the source for the comparison.
Which riders may value that combination?
- Long-distance mixed-surface riders: The larger tank may be useful where fuel stops are widely spaced, while the suspension travel and clearance suit the model’s off-road emphasis. Route conditions and actual consumption still determine whether the capacity is sufficient.
- Riders focused on technical, slow terrain: Consider the 220 kg wet weight and 890 mm seat height alongside the suspension figures. The bike’s specification does not remove the demands of managing a tall, heavy motorcycle at low speed.
- Mostly road or everyday riders: Compare the standard Ténéré 700’s lower listed weight and seat height with the World Raid’s extra tank capacity. The right choice depends on whether the additional capacity and off-road-oriented setup serve your regular use.
