Renton racer Dana Meeks returned to international motorcycle drag racing in 2026, about a decade after a snapped crankshaft stopped his Top Fuel Harley. A report published October 1 by Hyperlocal Loop, which attributes its original reporting to the Renton Reporter, says the motorcycle was rebuilt over two years and that Meeks raced at Mission Raceway Park in British Columbia. The available report provides the account and race figures below; official timing records were not independently available to verify them.
What stopped Meeks’s motorcycle—and how long did the rebuild take?
The reported failure was a snapped crankshaft that left the engine unable to start. According to the October 1, 2026 Hyperlocal Loop report, Chris Wilson began rebuilding the bike eight years after the failure, and the work took two years. That timeline places the return roughly ten years after the motorcycle was sidelined.
The machine is identified as a Top Fuel Harley. The report describes the class’s motorcycles as powerful, custom-built machines that use parachutes to slow after a run. It also describes the team’s between-run routine: downloading and analyzing data, adjusting pushrods, refueling, repacking the parachute, and pressurizing the frame. These are details from the report, not independently inspected technical specifications.
How did Meeks perform at the 2026 events?
The report describes two appearances, with different kinds of performance detail. Its times and speeds should be treated as reported figures, not verified official results.

The Hyperlocal Loop account attributes the Smoke Fire and Thunder result to Meeks and the event report, but official timing sheets were not available to confirm the numbers. The two appearances also are not a controlled comparison: the report gives different performance details for each.
What did Meeks say about returning?
Meeks described the return as exciting and said, “It’s great to be back in the saddle.” He also said he needed more seat time to feel comfortable managing the bike at the top end. The report quotes him on the team effort: “It’s not about me… it’s about all of us.”
