Two reasons to buy the Tata Aeris petrol
1. A feature-rich cabin and comfortable ride
Tata lists a 26.03 cm touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, rear AC vents and a 419-litre boot. Ventilated front seats are available on specified equipment. The independent road test praised the cabin’s premium feel and comfortable ride; those are reviewer impressions, while equipment and boot capacity are manufacturer claims. 2. A competitive launch-period price and a choice of transmissions
Tata announced an introductory petrol starting price of ₹5.29 lakh. In its review published on 8 October 2026, Autocar India listed petrol variants from ₹5.29 lakh to ₹8.74 lakh ex-showroom. These are launch-period figures, not a promise of today’s price; ask a local dealer for a current on-road quote and compare the equipment in each trim. The 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine is paired with a five-speed manual or five-speed AMT. Two reasons to think twice
1. The three-cylinder engine can feel and sound coarse
Autocar India’s road test reported noticeable vibration at idle and at low speeds, plus a coarse engine note when the car is revved hard. The sound can return above 2,500rpm and become intrusive on longer high-speed drives. That is a reviewer’s observation, not proof that every driver will find the engine objectionable. 2. Cabin noise control is a weakness, and official mileage is unconfirmed
The same road test found that cabin insulation has room for improvement, a concern for buyers who spend a lot of time at highway speeds. Autocar India’s model information also said official claimed petrol fuel-efficiency figures had not been revealed in the sources reviewed. What to check before choosing one
- Get a current on-road quote and confirm the features fitted to the exact variant.
- Drive the manual or AMT you intend to buy in your usual conditions; pay particular attention to AMT behaviour in traffic.
- Take a highway-speed test drive if engine sound, vibration or cabin noise could affect your comfort.
- Compare verified fuel economy and ownership costs only when figures are available on a comparable basis. The available sources do not establish long-term reliability, service costs or resale value.
The Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Honda Amaze and Hyundai Aura are among the rivals identified by the cited sources, but the available evidence does not provide a like-for-like comparison. Compare current variant prices, equipment, transmission behaviour, refinement and verified fuel economy rather than assuming the Aeris is ahead on any of those measures. Autocar India
