Tata Aeris EV Spotted Testing Again? What’s Confirmed—and What Isn’t

A social-media image has been described as a Tata Aeris EV testing, but the car’s identity is unverified and Tata has not confirmed an electric Aeris.

A camouflaged car shown in a social-media image has been described in a 6 October 2026 report as a Tata Aeris EV testing on public roads. But neither the image’s original source nor the car’s identity has been independently established. Tata’s official Aeris launch information lists petrol and iCNG versions, while a Tata representative was reported days later as saying there is no Aeris EV for now. The sighting is unverified, and an electric Aeris has not been confirmed.

What does the latest testing report actually show?

Auto India Daily reported on 6 October 2026 that a heavily camouflaged car had been seen testing in an image circulating on social media, and identified it as an Aeris EV. The report does not establish where the image first appeared or independently verify the vehicle’s identity. Camouflage and a social-media caption alone are not enough to confirm that a prototype is an Aeris, let alone an electric version. Read the Auto India Daily report.

Has Tata confirmed an Aeris EV?

No. Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles’ 25 September 2026 launch announcement introduced the Aeris sedan for private customers with petrol and iCNG powertrains; it does not announce an EV. Its introductory starting prices—Rs 5.29 lakh for petrol and Rs 6.29 lakh for iCNG—apply to those launch versions, not to an electric Aeris. See Tata’s official launch announcement.

In an interview report published on 26 September, Autocar Professional said Tata Motors representative Anand Kulkarni stated that there is no Aeris EV for now, citing three Tata EVs already at that price point. The report also says the Aeris platform can accommodate an electric powertrain. That indicates a technical possibility, not a confirmed development or product plan. Tesla Level 2 Charger NACS 48A - Hardwired 240V Wall Level 2 EV Charger
  • WORKS WITH EVERY TESLA + OTHER EVs: Built-in Tesla-style plug (NACS standard) connects directly to Tesla Model S, 3, X and Y - and any EV with a NACS port - no adapter needed. The plug even has a button to pop open your Tesla’s charge port. Non-Tesla J1772 vehicles can charge with a NACS-to-J1772 adapter (not included). The extra-long 25 ft cable easily reaches across a garage or driveway.
  • HARDWIRED - PROFESSIONAL INSTALL: This Level 2 charger is hardwired (not plug-in), so a licensed electrician installs it per National Electrical Code. It delivers up to 48A on a dedicated 60A, 240V circuit - enough to charge most EVs fully overnight. Want more speed? Your can set DIP switches 4 and 5 to unlock 50A on a dedicated 70A circuit. Before ordering, check your car’s port type and that your electrical panel can support the circuit.
  • CONTROL FROM YOUR PHONE: A stronger built-in antenna keeps the charger online even in a garage or basement. Use the free app to start and stop charging, set the charging speed (6-48A), get reminders, and track how much energy and money each charge uses. Requires a 2.4 GHz home WiFi network.
  • SAFETY-CERTIFIED & WEATHERPROOF: Independently tested and certified (UL, ETL, FCC, Energy Star). A fully sealed IP66 / NEMA 4 housing stands up to rain, snow, heat and dust indoors or out, and internal steel shielding protects the electronics for years of reliable use.
  • GLOW-IN-THE-DARK HOLSTER: The included high-visibility holster glows in the dark so you can find and dock the plug easily at night. Holds the connector securely when not in use.

What are the battery, range and launch date?

None of those details is confirmed for an Aeris EV. Autocar India’s 22 September article described a 26kWh battery and front-mounted motor as expectations, not specifications. Its later expected-model listing is internally inconsistent: it mentions a possible 26kWh pack in one place and 19.2kWh or 24kWh options elsewhere. The listing also gives 25 September as an expected launch date, although Tata’s launch announcement on that date covered petrol and iCNG versions. These figures and dates should not be treated as evidence of an announced EV. See the 22 September expectation and the expected-model listing.

There is consequently no verified Aeris EV battery capacity, driving range, motor output, price or launch timing to report. Until Tata announces an electric variant with specifications, any such figures remain speculation.

How to read the sighting alongside Tata’s statements

  • Official product information: Tata’s launch announcement identifies petrol and iCNG Aeris versions; it does not confirm an EV.
  • Reported company position: Autocar Professional attributes the “no EV for now” position to Tata representative Anand Kulkarni, while noting the platform’s potential to support electric power.
  • Unverified sighting: The 6 October report calls a social-media image a test sighting, but does not establish the image’s provenance or the vehicle’s identity.
  • Expected specifications: Media-published battery and launch expectations conflict and are not confirmed by Tata.

These are different kinds of evidence: a company launch announcement, a reported interview summary, an unverified image attribution and speculative listings. Taken together, they do not establish that the car in the image is an Aeris EV or that one is nearing launch.
