TAG Heuer returned as Formula 1’s Official Timekeeper from the 2025 season. Formula 1 announced the appointment on January 6, 2025, as its ten-year global partnership with LVMH began.
When did TAG Heuer return as Formula 1’s Official Timekeeper?
The role resumed for the 2025 season. Formula 1’s January 6, 2025 announcement tied the return to the start of the sport’s 75th anniversary year and its new partnership with LVMH.
TAG Heuer had previously held the Official Timekeeper role from 1992 through 2003, according to Formula 1’s current partner listing. The new appointment therefore revives a role the brand held for 12 seasons, rather than marking its first connection to Formula 1.
How the appointment fits into Formula 1’s LVMH partnership
Formula 1 announced in October 2024 that LVMH would become a Global Partner from 2025 under a ten-year agreement. TAG Heuer was named among the LVMH maisons involved in the partnership. The agreement is between Formula 1 and LVMH; TAG Heuer’s timekeeping appointment is one element of that wider relationship.

In its 2025 announcement, Formula 1 said TAG Heuer would have a significant presence on and off the track, including trackside branding, Fan Zone and Paddock Club activations, and new product ranges. Those were announced plans; the announcement did not establish that every activation or product was already available at the time.
What the Official Timekeeper title does—and does not—establish
Formula 1’s announcement confirms TAG Heuer’s official designation and planned visibility. It does not describe the technical division of timing responsibilities among TAG Heuer, Formula 1 and the sport’s timing systems. The title alone is not evidence that TAG Heuer independently measures or adjudicates every race result.
Rank #2
Formula 1’s announcement also cited 230 wins, 595 podiums, 11 constructors’ championships and 14 drivers’ championships associated with TAG Heuer’s history in the sport. These are Formula 1’s brand-associated historical figures, not results caused by the renewed timekeeper appointment.
Which TAG Heuer watch collections are associated with Formula 1?
Formula 1’s partner page lists the TAG Heuer Formula 1, Monaco and Carrera collections. That establishes the named collections’ connection to the partnership, but not that a specific watch model is required for timekeeping or is an exclusive “official timekeeper” edition. The cited partnership information does not provide individual model specifications, prices or current availability.
What the return means for fans
The confirmed change is the revival of TAG Heuer’s Official Timekeeper role, alongside a broader LVMH partnership and the brand presence and activations Formula 1 announced. Formula 1 and TAG Heuer have described the appointment as a continuation of their long motorsport history; the cited announcements do not provide an independent assessment of the partnership’s commercial impact or a performance result attributable to the renewed role.
