The Suzuki GSX-R750 is notable for combining a 750cc four-cylinder engine with a compact supersport chassis—a formula Suzuki traces to an endurance-racing-inspired model introduced in 1985. Its history is well documented by Suzuki, and the company’s US listings provide detailed specifications for the 2025 and 2026 models. Those manufacturer descriptions and figures are useful context, but they are not independent riding-test results.
What made the GSX-R750 a supersport legend?
The defining idea is a middle ground: more displacement than a 600-class supersport, packaged in a motorcycle Suzuki describes as compact and lightweight. Suzuki says the 2025 GSX-R750 continues its tradition of pairing a strong engine with a lightweight, nimble chassis. That is the manufacturer’s characterization, not an independently measured handling verdict.
The GSX-R750 also has a long-running connection to racing. Suzuki’s anniversary account says the original design drew on technology from endurance competition, including the World Endurance Championship. The combination of that stated heritage and the 750cc format helps explain the model’s reputation; it does not, by itself, establish how any particular year performs on a road or track.
When was the Suzuki GSX-R750 introduced?
Suzuki dates the first GSX-R750 to 1985. In a 25 July 2025 anniversary release, the company said the model drew on endurance-racing technology and won the 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race in its race-debut year. Those are Suzuki’s historical claims.

Suzuki Motor Corporation’s 2025 release gives the original motorcycle a maximum output of 77 PS and a dry weight of 179 kg. These figures refer to the first-generation model and should not be mistaken for current specifications. The same release reports more than 1.2 million GSX-R-series motorcycles produced across the GSX-R1100, 1000, 750, 600, 150 and 125, as of the end of June 2025; that is a series-wide production total, not GSX-R750 sales.

What equipment does Suzuki highlight?
Suzuki’s global GSX-R750 overview lists a Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS), an electronically controlled steering damper, three-way adjustable footpegs, an inverted front fork and Brembo front calipers. It also describes an LED tail lamp, analog tachometer and LCD displays. Its specification table lists a 190 kg curb mass and a 17.0 L fuel tank. Global and US pages may present specifications differently, so use the listing for the exact market and model year when checking a particular bike.

How does the GSX-R750 compare with the GSX-R600?
The clearest distinction established by this source set is engine displacement: the GSX-R750 is a 750cc model, while the GSX-R600’s name identifies the 600 class. A meaningful buying or performance comparison requires specifications for the same model year and market, including curb weight, ergonomics, suspension, brakes, electronics and price, as well as a clear distinction between road and track use.
Suzuki’s cited pages do not provide a like-for-like GSX-R600 comparison or independent riding tests. They therefore do not establish which bike handles better, is faster in a particular setting, suits beginners, or is more reliable. Those judgments need comparable test data or other evidence beyond the manufacturer specifications cited here.

What to check before buying tires or accessories
Suzuki lists 120/70ZR17M/C (58W) front and 180/55ZR17M/C (73W) rear tires for its cited 2025 and 2026 US models. Check the exact year and market of the motorcycle, then confirm fitment before purchasing: the listed sizes do not specify a recommended tire brand or model, or establish a performance advantage.
Suzuki’s 2025 brochure confirms that genuine accessories are available to GSX-R owners and advises owners to read the manual and inspect the motorcycle before riding. For a specific bike, consult its manual and verify that any accessory is compatible with its model year and market.
