Fit is specific to the bike, and torque tuning is specific to the motor system. These features can help riders manage slippery starts and changing surfaces, but the cited manufacturer information does not establish a particular stopping-distance or crash-reduction benefit.
Start with tires that are actually designed for studs
A wide fat-bike tire is not automatically studdable. Look for an explicit manufacturer statement that the tire accepts studs, or choose a version supplied with studs. For example, Giant lists the Yukon E+ with 27.5 × 4.5-inch studdable tires and says studs are included; that specification applies to this model, not to fat bikes generally. Giant Bicycles Canada
Before buying a tire or stud kit, check the bike maker’s permitted wheel and tire dimensions, the tire’s width, and available frame and fork clearance. A tire that fits the wheel diameter may still be too wide for the bike. The examples here span different sizes: Giant’s Yukon E+ uses 27.5-inch wheels, while Trek’s Bontrager Gnarwhal is offered in 26- and 27.5-inch versions. Neither size is a universal fit recommendation.
Compare stud options by fit and intended use
Stud-pocket counts and supplied hardware are useful comparison points, but they do not by themselves establish which tire will suit a particular route. Check the exact tire size and model, whether studs are preinstalled, which replacements are compatible, and whether the tread is intended for the mix of snow, ice, gravel, or pavement you ride.

Use a gentler torque ramp when the bike supports it
On a low-traction start, a motor that delivers power less abruptly may be easier to manage than one set to respond at its maximum rate. Whether you can adjust that response depends on the bike’s motor and control system; it is not a general feature of electric fat bikes.
Giant describes one model-specific example on the Yukon E+: its SyncDrive Pro 2 motor is rated by Giant at 85 Nm, and Giant says the RideControl app’s lower launch-control setting can take up to 2.5 seconds to reach full torque in low-traction situations such as snow. Giant contrasts that with the highest setting, which it says produces maximum torque in milliseconds on grippy terrain. Use the settings available for your own model and follow its manual. A slower torque ramp may help make a slippery launch more controllable, but it does not replace choosing suitable tires or adapting speed and riding technique to conditions.

Suomi Tyres’ Winter Tyres User Guide recommends riding the first 50 km without pushing the tire to its limits so the studs can bed in. It calls particular attention to high-torque e-bike motors. The guide also advises choosing tread according to riding use, including off-road mountain biking or city commuting, and includes terrain and temperature guidance in a chart.
