Yes—KTM survived its 2025 restructuring proceedings, but the February headline marked a milestone, not the end of the company’s turnaround. Creditors approved a restructuring plan in February 2025. KTM AG and two subsidiaries completed their court proceedings on June 16, 2025; later that year, Bajaj took majority control of the parent group, which was renamed Bajaj Mobility AG. Its 2025 annual report says restructuring continued and describes the 2026 market outlook as challenging.
What did “Stop the presses – KTM lives on!” mean?
New Atlas published “Stop the presses – KTM lives on!” on February 25, 2025, after KTM creditors approved a restructuring plan. The headline referred to a survival milestone: the approval allowed the company to proceed with its plan, not to a completed recovery or a guarantee of long-term profitability.
New Atlas reported that the plan was worth EUR 548 million and followed claims of EUR 2.25 billion, of which EUR 2 billion had been acknowledged. Those figures are New Atlas’s reporting from February 2025, not figures independently established here from the later annual report. The article also said the plan enabled production to resume and debt repayments to begin. Read the February 25, 2025 New Atlas report.
What happened after creditors approved the plan?
The later company timeline shows how the court process progressed beyond the February headline:

- November 29, 2024: KTM AG, KTM Components GmbH and KTM Forschungs & Entwicklungs GmbH filed for restructuring proceedings with self-administration.
- February 25, 2025: Creditors approved the plan, as reported by New Atlas.
- May 22, 2025: The 30 percent cash quota, totaling EUR 525 million, was deposited, according to Bajaj Mobility AG’s 2025 annual report.
- June 16, 2025: The proceedings for KTM AG and the two subsidiaries were completed.
- November 18–19, 2025: Bajaj exercised its call option, gaining indirect control of the former PIERER Mobility AG on November 18. The company approved changing its name to Bajaj Mobility AG the following day.
The annual report describes Bajaj Mobility AG, formerly PIERER Mobility AG, as the holding company of KTM AG. The change in control was therefore at the parent-group level; it is more accurate to say Bajaj took majority control than to say KTM was acquired outright. See Bajaj Mobility AG’s 2025 annual report.
Did completing the court proceedings finish KTM’s restructuring?
No. Completion of the proceedings on June 16 closed a court-process chapter, but the company’s annual report says operational and group restructuring continued afterward. It states: “The judicial conclusion of the restructuring proceedings was therefore only a first, necessary step.”

What did KTM’s 2025 business results show?
Bajaj Mobility AG’s annual report records EUR 1,009.4 million in revenue for the 2025 financial year, down 46.3 percent year over year. It also reports that the combined market share of KTM, Husqvarna and GASGAS fell from 11.1 percent to 4.7 percent. The company attributed the decline primarily to production stops during restructuring and their effects on vehicle availability and dealer stock.

These are company-reported figures for the 2025 financial year, not current 2026 results. They show why creditor approval and the end of court proceedings should not be mistaken for a return to normal trading conditions.

The company described premium motorcycles as its core business and said it intended to focus on operational profitability. At the same time, its 2026 outlook characterized the market environment as challenging. The later picture is therefore more qualified than the February 2025 headline: KTM continued under a reorganized parent group, while cost, structure and operational changes remained part of the work ahead.
