Stealth B-52R Electric Bike: 62-Mph Owner Reports and the Power Claim

The B-52R’s official listed top speed is 95 km/h, while 62 mph comes from an attributed owner-speed report. Here is how its power claims and current specs compare.

The Stealth B-52R is an off-road-focused electric bike with pedals, but 62 mph is not its official top-speed rating. Stealth currently lists a maximum speed of 95 km/h (about 59 mph); the 62-mph figure comes from a 2025 report quoting the company’s founder on speeds some owners had recorded. The same report’s comparison supports “nearly twice the torque” more clearly than “twice the power.”

What does “62 mph with twice the power” actually mean?

There are two different claims behind the headline, and neither should be read as a precise, independently tested specification.

  • 62 mph: New Atlas reported on May 6, 2025, that Stealth founder John Karambalis said some owners had recorded speeds above 100 km/h (about 62 mph). The report gives no independent test protocol, conditions, or verification for those owner speeds. Stealth’s current product page instead lists 95 km/h (about 59 mph) as the B-52R’s top speed.
  • “Twice the power”: New Atlas compared the earlier B-52, at 4.8 kW and 120 Nm, with the B-52R, at up to 8 kW and 230 Nm. That is about 1.7 times the reported power and 1.9 times the torque—not a precise doubling of power.

Those figures come from different sources and should stay attributed: New Atlas’s 2025 launch report and Stealth’s current B-52R listing.

What Stealth currently lists for the B-52R

The specifications below are from Stealth’s undated product listing, accessed October 5, 2026. They are manufacturer-published figures, not independent test results.

Brakes 250 mm rotors and four-piston calipers

Stealth also says pedal input can increase torque by up to 50%. That is a company claim, not an independently measured result. The product listing displays $13,800; confirm the currency, regional availability, and current price with Stealth before treating it as a local quote.

Why the reported specifications do not match exactly

New Atlas’s May 6, 2025 launch coverage reports an 8 kW motor, a 2.5 kWh battery, 60 km of range at 45 km/h, and a 70 kg weight. Stealth’s current listing gives 8,500 W, a 3.6 kWh battery, and a 50–120 km range. The available sources do not explain whether these differences reflect a revised model, different versions, or an error. Do not combine the two sets of figures as if they were one confirmed specification.

The range figures also have different levels of detail: New Atlas attaches its 60 km figure to a stated speed of 45 km/h, while Stealth’s current range listing does not state test conditions. Neither source provides an independent road or laboratory range test.

What the design suggests—and what is not independently tested

The B-52R’s listed hardware is built around a powerful rear hub drive and substantial suspension and braking components. New Atlas describes rear-hub weight and rearward balance as handling compromises, and reports that the bike can be demanding to control. That is launch coverage and interview-based context, not an independent road test.

In the New Atlas interview, Karambalis said the new model was quieter than its predecessors and described sound emissions as “around 40 dB.” He also said the bike’s handling could make steering difficult because the front wheel rarely touches the ground. These are attributed company statements; the report does not provide independent noise, handling, braking, or speed measurements.

Karambalis also described a wheel and tire change as having “almost completely eliminated flat tires.” That is a manufacturer claim reported by New Atlas, not a measured long-term puncture rate.

Is the B-52R legal to ride on public roads?

Stealth labels the B-52R as “designed for off road use only in Australia.” Its listed 8,500 W power and 95 km/h top speed are far above the public-use e-bike thresholds cited by Queensland and New South Wales authorities. Pedals do not by themselves make a high-powered electric bike road legal.

  • Queensland: Government guidance says public-use e-bikes must have no more than 250 W maximum continuous rated power and assistance up to 25 km/h; it also says riders must wear helmets. See Queensland’s e-bike rules.
  • New South Wales: The current FAQ describes a 500 W maximum for its specified electrically power-assisted-cycle category, with assistance cutting out at 25 km/h, and discusses a planned move to 250 W. See the NSW e-bike FAQs.
  • Elsewhere in Australia: Federal guidance says a device outside e-bike criteria may be treated as a road vehicle and directs users to check state and territory rules. Start with the Australian Department of Infrastructure’s importer guide, then confirm local requirements.

These rules are jurisdiction-specific, and the cited sources do not settle trail access or registration requirements everywhere. Check the rules for the exact road, trail, and location where you intend to ride.

What to check before buying

For a high-output bike like the B-52R, the headline speed is only one part of deciding whether it suits your needs. Before committing, confirm:

  • Which model version and specification you are being offered, especially the power and battery capacity.
  • What range to expect under conditions comparable to your route, speed, rider, and terrain; do not treat an unspecified range as a guaranteed result.
  • Whether the bike can be used legally where you plan to ride, and whether your intended trails permit it.
  • Price and availability in your market, plus access to service and replacement parts.
  • Whether accessories and replacement components fit your bike’s generation and installed parts.

Stealth’s accessories collection lists items including mudguards, a multifunction headlight, skid plate, B-52R chain guard, and Gen 2 controller shield. The product page also lists Formula and Magura MT5/MT7 brake pads; verify generation and component compatibility with Stealth before ordering. The company says it is based in Melbourne and has produced high-performance off-road electric bikes since 2008; its company page describes continued design, development, and hand-building of its legacy models in Melbourne.
