Who built the Stauffenberg?
New Atlas identifies Martin Becker, the builder associated with MB Cycles, as the person behind the Stauffenberg. The feature quotes MB Cycles’ website as saying, “With rare exceptions, we focus on American V-Twins.” That is the company’s wording, rather than a direct quote from Becker.
The feature says the motorcycle resides in a private garage in Beverly Hills, California. It does not establish its registration status or whether it is available for sale.
What are the Stauffenberg’s engine and chassis?
According to New Atlas, the motorcycle uses a 2011 West Coast Choppers CFL frame and a 2023 S&S Cycle engine rated at 111 cubic inches (1,818 cc), paired with a six-speed Baker transmission. These are specifications reported in the feature, not independently verified manufacturer records or test results.

The CFL is described as a TIG-welded hardtail with a raked front end. A top motor mount sits beneath the tank and is cross-braced. The combination gives the build its distinctive chopper stance, but the article offers no handling measurements or ride impressions.
How much of the bike is handmade?
Becker made the tank and rear fender for this build. The feature also describes a closely routed two-into-one exhaust made specifically for the Stauffenberg by a welder in Indonesia. Becker addresses the muffler’s position with a practical reassurance: “If people ask, ‘No, the muffler doesn’t burn your leg.’”

Other components come from specialist suppliers. The reported setup includes a West Coast Choppers oil tank, modified Harley-Davidson Dyna Super Glide Sport fork lowers, a Pro-One triple tree, an Arlen Ness brace and a Hyperpro steering damper. The build’s character comes from that mix of custom fabrication and selected off-the-shelf parts, rather than from a claim that every component is unique.
What wheels, brakes and controls does it use?
New Atlas reports 21-inch V-Starr wheels at the front and 18-inch wheels at the rear, fitted with Avon Cobra Chrome tires. Exact tire dimensions are not stated. Braking hardware includes four-piston Brembo calipers and Lyndall rotors; Lyndall sprockets are also listed.

The adjustable risers are reported as 10 inches high, and the headlight as 4.5 inches in diameter.
The feature identifies these parts as components on this particular motorcycle. It does not provide a complete parts list or establish compatibility with other motorcycles. Tire choice and fitment depend on full tire dimensions and the requirements of the specific vehicle.

What makes the build distinctive?
The Stauffenberg pairs a traditional hardtail silhouette and American V-twin with carefully chosen modern components, including hydraulic controls, a steering damper and a compact speedometer. Handmade bodywork and a bike-specific exhaust give the machine a tailored feel, while restrained gold detailing provides contrast without dominating the overall look.
That blend helps explain the enthusiast appeal: the bike is not just a collection of recognizable brands, but an assembled custom with fabrication, stance and component choices working toward a coherent style. The feature does not, however, establish performance, durability, comfort or safety advantages over other choppers.
