The car is no longer a mystery: Porsche’s 992.2 GT3 is a 2025-onward model, with a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six and revised aerodynamic details. Here’s what the footage showed—and what the production car confirmed.
What the spy shots showed
CarSpyMedia published footage in 2024 of a Porsche 911 GT3 testing at the Nürburgring. The publisher described the car as an undisguised, production-ready example of the facelifted 992.2. That makes the video useful as a historical preview, not proof of Porsche’s development process. Watch CarSpyMedia’s Nürburgring footage.

Because the car was undisguised, the broad design direction was visible before the official reveal. But spy footage alone could not establish specifications, equipment availability, or the aerodynamic effect of individual parts. Porsche’s later production information supplies those details.
What changed on the production 992.2 GT3?
Front and underbody aerodynamics
Porsche says the production GT3 has a redesigned front splitter and diffuser, revised rear-wing endplates, front-axle aero bars previously reserved for the GT3 RS, and adapted underbody fins. The winged GT3 retains its swan-neck rear wing. Porsche describes the updated aero package as increasing downforce; that benefit is the manufacturer’s claim, not an independent measurement here.

Engine and performance
The central mechanical feature remains a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-six. Porsche’s global overview for the 2025-onward model lists 510 PS (502 hp) and a 9,000-rpm limit. Its global acceleration figure is 0–100 km/h (0–62 mph) in 3.4 seconds, with a 311 km/h (193 mph) top speed. Porsche’s global 911 GT3 overview.
For the U.S. market, Porsche lists 502 hp, 331 lb-ft, a 0–60 mph time of 3.2 seconds, and a 193-mph top speed. The 0–60 mph and 0–100 km/h times use different distance benchmarks, so they should not be treated as directly interchangeable. Porsche USA’s 911 GT3 page.

Manual transmission detail
For manual versions, Porsche says the gear lever is shortened and derived from the 911 S/T. Transmission availability can vary by market, so check the relevant country’s model configurator or specification sheet rather than assuming every market offers the same configuration.
How the 992.2 differs from the 992.1
The evidence supports a focused comparison, not a complete specification-by-specification verdict. Porsche’s stated 992.2 changes include the revised front splitter and diffuser, rear-wing endplates, added front-axle aero bars, adapted underbody fins, and the shorter lever in manual versions. The swan-neck wing remains on the winged GT3, while the naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six continues.

No complete side-by-side 992.1 and 992.2 specification set is established here, so it would be misleading to claim a numerical power or acceleration improvement over the previous generation. Porsche did report a Nordschleife result for the new car in a specific configuration: a Manthey-equipped 992.2 GT3 recorded 6:52.981 minutes, which Porsche said was 2.76 seconds quicker than the previous-generation 992.1 GT3 with Manthey Kit. This is Porsche’s 2025 manufacturer-reported comparison, not an independent test. Porsche Newsroom’s Manthey-equipped GT3 lap-time announcement.

Porsche offers the car as the winged 911 GT3 and as the 911 GT3 with Touring package. The Touring is the more understated presentation; the standard GT3 makes its rear wing a prominent part of the design. Exact equipment and availability depend on market and model year, so confirm details in local Porsche specifications. Porsche’s 911 GT3 model overview.

The choice is primarily about presentation and configuration, rather than a reason to assume a different engine: Porsche identifies the 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-six as the GT3’s powerplant. Check the local equipment list for the transmission and options offered with each version.

Why the early look matters now
The spy footage captured the car shortly before its production identity was public, but it is best read as a preview rather than a source of technical specifications. The production 992.2 is now documented by Porsche: its key story is continuity in the naturally aspirated engine and swan-neck wing, alongside revised front and underbody aero and a Touring alternative for buyers who prefer a quieter appearance. Porsche’s history page places the 992.2 in the 2025-onward model era. Porsche Christophorus archive.
