There is no controlled sedan-versus-911 test in the evidence here, so none of these results proves that a sedan matches every 911 across a road course, repeated laps, or everyday driving.
For a useful starting point, Car and Driver’s January 2025 test compared a 2025 BMW M3 Competition, a 2024 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio, and a 2025 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing. The M3 was quickest to 60 mph; the Blackwing posted the highest skidpad grip. Those are results from one sedan comparison, not a direct Porsche matchup.
What does “keep up” with a Porsche 911 mean?
A car can be quick in a straight line without matching another car’s grip or pace through a full lap. “Keep up” might mean a standing-start sprint, cornering grip, a lap time, repeatability over several laps, or simply being fast while remaining comfortable and usable on public roads. The result can change with the 911 trim, tires, transmission, conditions, and driver.
To establish a direct comparison, the cars would need to be tested under comparable conditions on the same course, with the same relevant measurements. The sedan test cited here does not include a Porsche 911, and it does not establish parity with a particular 911 model.

What the recent sedan test found
Car and Driver’s January 2025 comparison instrumented a 2025 BMW M3 Competition, a 2024 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio, and a 2025 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing. These are the publication’s results for the tested cars; they should not be conflated with manufacturer claims for a different model year.
| Tested sedan | 0–60 mph | Skidpad | What the comparison indicates |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2025 BMW M3 Competition | 3.2 seconds, Car and Driver test | 1.02 g, Car and Driver test | Quickest to 60 mph among the three. The tested Competition was not available with a manual transmission. |
| 2024 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio | 3.4 seconds, Car and Driver test | 0.94 g, Car and Driver test | Praised for its distinctive engine character and engaging feel. The comparison’s skidpad results used Pirelli P Zero Corsa tires on the Alfa, a tire difference relevant to interpreting grip. |
| 2025 Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing | 4.1 seconds, Car and Driver test | 1.04 g, Car and Driver test | Highest skidpad figure of the three; editors praised its handling and road-comfort balance. |
All three test results are from Car and Driver’s January 2025 comparison: the full sedan comparison. The skidpad figure measures lateral grip in that test; it is not a lap time and does not by itself show which car is faster around a circuit. Tire, setup, and test conditions matter.

Which sedan is the strongest candidate?
BMW M3 Competition: strongest on the tested sprint
The 2025 M3 Competition reached 60 mph in 3.2 seconds in Car and Driver’s test, beating the other two sedans in that comparison. Its 1.02-g skidpad result also showed substantial lateral grip. That makes it the clearest pick here if “keep up” means rapid acceleration among these three tested sedans. It does not establish that it will match a 911 on a circuit or against every 911 trim. The tested Competition configuration could not be ordered with a manual transmission.
Cadillac CT4-V Blackwing: strongest tested grip and balance
The tested 2025 Blackwing recorded 1.04 g on the skidpad, the top result in this three-sedan comparison, despite posting the slowest 0–60 time of the group at 4.1 seconds. Car and Driver selected it as the best overall fit for the sports-sedan mission, citing its combination of handling, road comfort, and price. That is the publication’s judgment within this comparison, not a universal ranking or a Porsche-versus-Cadillac verdict.

For the separate 2026 model year, Cadillac lists 472 hp and 445 lb-ft, a standard six-speed manual, and an available 10-speed automatic on its U.S. CT4-V Blackwing specifications page. Cadillac claims 0–60 mph in 3.9 seconds and lists a U.S. starting price of $63,600 on its 2026 model page. Those are manufacturer figures for the 2026 car, not independent test results for the 2025 car above; price and specifications can change.
Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio: engaging character, with a model-year caveat
Car and Driver recorded 3.4 seconds to 60 mph and 0.94 g for its tested 2024 Giulia Quadrifoglio. The comparison highlighted the Alfa’s engine character and engaging feel, while noting that its design had changed little over eight model years. Car and Driver reported the model discontinued for 2025; that report does not establish current availability in every market, so check local listings and official status before treating it as a current new-car option.

How to compare one of these sedans with a specific 911
Choose the exact 911 trim first. Then compare like with like rather than relying on horsepower or a single acceleration figure. A useful direct test would include:
- Acceleration: Match the measurement method and conditions for 0–60 mph and, if available, quarter-mile times.
- Grip and lap pace: Compare skidpad results and course lap times only when tires, course, weather, and driver are reasonably comparable. A skidpad result cannot substitute for a lap time.
- Repeatability: Look for evidence from multiple laps or runs, not just a single best result, if the question is sustained performance.
- Road use: Weigh ride comfort, highway behavior, cabin usability, and transmission choice alongside performance.
- Price and model year: Use figures for the exact versions being considered, and separate manufacturer claims from independent testing.
Without a matched test, the fairest conclusion is limited: the M3 Competition and CT4-V Blackwing demonstrated strong performance in a recent sedan comparison, but that comparison cannot prove either equals a Porsche 911. Historical comparisons can provide context, but they are not current buying guidance; Car and Driver’s 2017 comparison of the Giulia Quadrifoglio, Cadillac ATS-V, and Mercedes-AMG C63 S concerns older models and period-specific figures.
