What is the Solar Eclipse Race Edition?
The Solar Eclipse Race Edition is an electric motorcycle announced by Solar Scooters in July 2024. Retailer pages also style the name as “E-Clipse.” A June 2024 GoEcoRide article calls it the GoEcoRide Eclipse Race Edition, reflecting a branding discrepancy in launch-era coverage rather than evidence of a separately validated model.

Solar’s launch article describes a carbon-fiber frame chassis and swingarm. The retailer listing separately associates a lower weight figure with carbon-fiber rims, but the pages do not clarify which parts or configuration the launch description refers to.
How much does it cost?
Solar’s July 12, 2024 launch article gave a starting price of $6,795. That is historical launch pricing, not a verified current, universal MSRP. GoEcoRide repeated the same starting price in its June 5, 2024 article.

What are the claimed speed, power and range?
Solar’s launch article claims 13,000 W peak output, a 65 mph top speed and up to 70 miles on a full charge. GoEcoRide repeated those launch-era figures. Neither article supplies standardized test conditions or independent performance validation, so treat them as published claims rather than guaranteed real-world results.

The retailer listing differs: its description names a 16 kW motor and speeds up to 70 mph, while its specification table lists 16,000 W peak, 65 mph and 70+ mph with carbon-fiber rims. It also gives a 70-mile range. Because the page itself uses different speed figures and qualifiers, it does not support choosing one as the definitive top speed.
Battery, charging and other listed specifications
The retailer table describes a 72 V, 45 Ah LG battery and a 3–4 hour charging time. Solar’s launch article also names an LG 45 Ah battery and a 45 A output controller. The 70-mile range figure appears in the published materials, but no standardized conditions are provided to explain how it was obtained.

Is it lightweight?
“Lightweight” is not backed by one consistent weight figure in the available product pages. The retailer table lists 138 lb and 113 lb with carbon rims, while another part of that same listing says 130 lb without explaining the difference. Those figures may relate to configurations, but the listing does not resolve that point. Confirm the weight for the exact wheel and rim setup before comparing it with another motorcycle or assessing whether it suits your needs.
Is the Solar E-Clipse street legal?
Solar’s launch article says riders need a motorcycle license and insurance. The retailer says the vehicle complies with road-legal requirements, but that is the seller’s statement and does not establish its legal status, registration path or operating requirements in every jurisdiction. Check with the relevant motor-vehicle authority and insurer where you plan to ride; licensing, registration and equipment rules can depend on location and vehicle classification.

- Get a written price for your location, including pickup, shipping and any other charges; the displayed $6,999.99 listing price is restricted to pickup in Maui.
- Ask the seller to identify the exact configuration and confirm its motor rating, speed specification, wheel and rim setup, and actual weight.
- Ask how the quoted range was measured and what conditions or riding assumptions apply.
- Confirm charging requirements and the applicable licensing, registration and insurance rules with local authorities and your insurer.
