Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsFree Scan →No—the Slate truck is no longer being pitched as an under-$20,000 vehicle. That earlier figure depended on a federal EV tax credit; Slate’s current FAQ lists the Blank Slate at $24,950, plus a $1,450 destination charge. The company expects first deliveries in late 2026, but they have not yet begun.
Why Slate dropped the under-$20,000 figure
When Slate introduced its electric pickup in April 2025, the under-$20,000 figure was tied to applying a federal EV tax credit. TechCrunch reported on July 3, 2025, that Slate had stopped promoting that threshold after passage of the tax bill. The report said the company had counted on a $7,500 credit to help the truck reach the advertised figure; Slate had not given a precise price before that credit.
That history is not the same as Slate raising a published sub-$20,000 sticker price. The threshold was a credit-dependent marketing claim, while the company announced a vehicle price later. TechCrunch’s 2025 account described the credit’s expected end at that time; it should not be read as a present-day statement of tax law.
What Slate says the truck costs now
Slate’s current FAQ lists the Blank Slate at $24,950, with a $1,450 destination charge. The destination charge is additional, so the listed vehicle price alone is not the full amount before any other applicable charges or options. Slate says the $300 preorder amount is credited toward the final purchase price.

Range and capability are company figures, not test results
Slate’s FAQ gives a projected range of 205 miles, rear-wheel drive with a single rear-mounted 135 kW motor, about 1,550 pounds of payload, and 2,000 pounds of towing capacity. These are manufacturer-published projections and specifications; they are not independently measured road-test results. Before deciding whether the truck suits a commute, workday, or trailer, compare the projected range and stated capacities with your own needs and verify final specifications in the purchase documents.
