The 2026 Skoda Slavia facelift is worth considering if you want a turbo-petrol sedan with a broader automatic choice, added parking and rear-seat features, and two engine options. The new 1.0 TSI automatic is the key change. But the 1.5 TSI is still automatic-only, one road test found the ride firm at low speeds, and official prices were due on October 6, 2026. That makes the verdict conditional: shortlist it, but decide only after checking the price of your preferred trim and driving it on your usual roads.
What changed on the 2026 Slavia?
Škoda unveiled the updated Slavia in India on August 18, 2026. The lineup retains two turbo-petrol engines: a 1.0 TSI with a six-speed manual or a new eight-speed torque-converter automatic, and a 1.5 TSI paired with a seven-speed DSG. The new automatic gives 1.0-litre buyers an option beyond a manual, while the larger engine remains tied to the DSG. Škoda’s announcement also lists refreshed LED headlamps and taillamps with sequential rear indicators, revised alloy wheels and interior themes, and new convenience equipment.
The feature list includes a 360-degree Area View camera, front parking sensors, rear-seat massage, a 10.25-inch digital cockpit and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Equipment can vary by trim; check the variant-specific list rather than assuming every Slavia has every feature.
Three reasons to buy the Slavia facelift
1. The 1.0 TSI now has a conventional automatic option
The new eight-speed torque-converter automatic broadens the choice for buyers who want an automatic but do not need the 1.5 TSI. In its October 4, 2026 road test, Autocar India reported improved low-speed drivability from the 1.0 automatic. That could matter in stop-and-go city traffic, though it is one reviewer’s observation, not a claim that the gearbox is better than every rival’s.

2. The added equipment targets everyday convenience
A 360-degree camera and front parking sensors can help when manoeuvring in tight spaces; rear-seat massage is a comfort extra for passengers. These are more practical additions than styling changes alone, especially if they are available on the trim you plan to buy. Confirm their exact availability in the official variant list before paying a deposit.
3. Two engine-and-gearbox combinations serve different preferences
The 1.0 TSI offers the choice of a six-speed manual or eight-speed torque-converter automatic, while the 1.5 TSI is paired with a seven-speed DSG. That gives buyers a smaller-engine manual option or a larger-engine DSG option, alongside the new automatic for the 1.0. Škoda says the facelift carries forward the Slavia’s five-star Global NCAP credentials and comes with six airbags. Treat that as the automaker’s carried-forward claim: the announcement does not establish that every facelift variant has received a fresh crash test.

Two reasons not to buy—or to wait
1. You cannot get the 1.5 TSI with a manual, and the ride needs a personal check
If you want the larger engine and a manual gearbox, the announced range does not offer that combination. Ride comfort is also worth checking rather than assuming the suspension will suit you. Autocar India’s October 4 road test described a firm edge to the ride at low speeds. That is a single reviewer’s impression, so test-drive the car on roads like the ones you use, ideally with passengers.
2. Value cannot be judged until official prices are out
At the time of the August unveiling, Škoda said official prices would follow on October 6, 2026. An estimate from a third-party guide is not a confirmed price, so there is no sound basis yet to call the facelift good value. After the price list is published, compare the dealer’s on-road quotation for the exact trim and gearbox you want; registration, insurance and taxes affect the amount you actually pay. The Hyundai Verna, Honda City and Volkswagen Virtus are relevant alternatives, but there is no equal-condition comparison here that establishes an overall winner. Compare equipment, gearbox availability, ride comfort, crash-test evidence, warranty and assistance terms.

What to verify before booking
- Check the official price and variant list for your preferred engine and gearbox.

- Test-drive the car on your regular roads, paying attention to low-speed ride comfort and the 1.0 automatic’s behaviour in traffic.
- Ask an authorized dealer for the full terms, exclusions and eligibility for Škoda’s announced Super Care package: a standard four-year warranty, four years of roadside assistance and four labour-free services.
- Confirm current booking and delivery details directly with the dealer. Škoda’s August announcement said pre-bookings started at ₹15,000; availability and delivery estimates can change.
Škoda says the Slavia is built in India on its locally developed MQB-A0-IN platform. The company also reported nearly 80,000 Slavia units sold to date in its August 18, 2026 announcement; that is the manufacturer’s cumulative sales figure, not an independent measure of market share.
