It can drive on electric power alone for short distances and recharges its battery while driving, so it does not need to be plugged in. The company says orders open in October 2026, with first deliveries scheduled for December in markets covered by its general announcement; Škoda Spain expects deliveries in early 2027.
What is new about the Octavia hybrid?
This is a series-parallel full hybrid: the petrol engine and electric motors can work together, and the traction motor can also propel the car on its own for short distances. Unlike a mild hybrid, it is capable of electric-only driving. Unlike a plug-in hybrid, it has no external charging requirement. Škoda describes the system as an intermediate step between those two forms of electrification. Škoda’s announcement and technical explainer outline the new setup.
The distinction is useful because Octavia versions have also been offered with mild-hybrid and plug-in-hybrid systems. In a 2020 announcement, Škoda described the Octavia’s 1.5 TSI mild hybrid as using a 48-volt starter motor and battery to assist the engine, while the Octavia iV was a plug-in hybrid. Those were earlier configurations, not specifications for this newly announced full hybrid. Škoda’s 2020 announcement provides that historical context.
How the series-parallel system works
The powertrain combines a 1.5 TSI evo2 petrol engine, two electric motors and a single-speed TQ250 automatic transmission designed for series-parallel operation. An automatic clutch can connect the engine mechanically to the front wheels. The larger electric motor drives those wheels and recovers energy during braking; the smaller motor mainly acts as a generator and starts the engine. The system selects its operating mode automatically.

#1 Best Overall
The battery has a stated gross energy content of 1.6 kWh and uses NMC chemistry. Škoda says the system automatically maintains its state of charge between 40% and 90%. It replenishes the battery through the engine or regenerative braking rather than requiring a charging cable.
Outputs and technical figures
Škoda offers the system at two output levels. The figures below are manufacturer specifications; the 180 km/h top speed is electronically limited.

- 🚗Material Configuration: Flame-retardant plastic shell paired with a ceramic metal resistor core, offering excellent high-temperature resistance and corrosion resistance.
- 🚗Core Function: As the main control component of the heater fan, it adjusts three fan speeds, allowing free switching between low, medium, and high speeds.
- 🚗Product Advantages: Balanced heat conduction, precise resistance values, less prone to aging and burnout, avoiding fan jamming, and only running at high speed.
- 🚗Purchase Notes: Before ordering, please verify the vehicle model, year, and OEM number to ensure compatibility. Original standard plugs connect directly, no tools required, no modification to the original vehicle wiring needed.
- 🚗After-sales Support: All our products are brand new and of high quality. If you encounter any problems during use, please contact customer service; we will provide solutions 24/7.
| System output | Petrol-engine output | Top speed |
|---|---|---|
| 100 kW | 96 kW | 180 km/h, electronically limited |
| 125 kW | 110 kW | 180 km/h, electronically limited |
Both versions use the same electric motors. Škoda has not supplied fuel-consumption, emissions or acceleration figures for the new powertrain in the cited announcement, so its real-world efficiency cannot be assessed from those figures.
Body styles, trims and market availability
The new powertrain is announced for both the Octavia hatchback and estate. Trim availability depends on market: Škoda’s general English-language announcement names Selection and Sportline, while its Spain release lists Selection, Plus and Sportline. These are not a universal trim lineup.

The available announcement identifies the powertrain, output options, body styles and rollout timing, but does not provide fuel economy, emissions, acceleration, pricing or market-by-market order details beyond the stated regional schedules. Those figures should not be inferred from the battery size or the system’s hybrid classification.
