Sindh’s Pink Scooter Scheme is a government benefit that provides free pink electric scooters to eligible women. The Sindh Mass Transit Authority (SMTA) lists an EV Scooty ballot application form on its website, but that listing does not confirm that applications are currently open or give a deadline. Check SMTA’s latest notice before applying.
What the Pink Scooter Scheme offers
The scheme is intended to improve women’s mobility by distributing electric scooters to eligible students and working women. It is separate from the Pink Bus service: SMTA lists Pink as a category of its People’s Bus Service, a distinct public-transport service. SMTA’s People’s Bus Service page describes that service.
SMTA’s official home page lists “Ev Scooty ballot form – Application Form,” and its media center includes Pink EV Scooty Scheme entries. Neither listing, on its own, establishes a live application window, current eligibility rules or a submission deadline.
Who has been reported as eligible?
Published reporting describes applicants as permanent residents of Sindh who are students or employed women and hold a valid motorbike or car driving licence. The scheme’s launch-era account said female instructors would train applicants who did not already ride. The Express Tribune reported this in February 2025, alongside the plan for monthly lottery-based distribution; those details may not reflect current implementation. How to check whether applications are open
- Go to the SMTA website and find the “Ev Scooty ballot form – Application Form” listing.
- Look for a current official notice that explicitly confirms applications are being accepted and states the deadline, eligibility criteria and submission instructions.
- Follow the instructions in that notice. Do not assume the form listing alone means an application will be accepted.
- If the status or requirements are unclear, use the contact details published on SMTA’s site to ask the authority for confirmation. A currently staffed scheme helpline has not been established in the available official information.
Distribution and training reports
Distribution has been reported at separate events, but the available reports do not establish a verified cumulative province-wide total.

- Dawn reported that 200 free pink electric scooters were handed to recipients at an event in September 2025. Its report also described licensing support and a training-partnership context. Dawn’s event report.
- A separate ProPakistani report said 200 women received scooters at a ceremony in Hyderabad in May 2026. It reported a seven-year restriction on selling the scooters and mandatory helmet use. ProPakistani’s Hyderabad report.
- In June 2026, ARY News reported the minister as saying 150 women held driving licences when the scheme launched and around 25,000 women had applied for licences. Those are the minister’s attributed figures, not independently verified counts. ARY News’ report.
SMTA reported in December 2025 that scooter instruction had begun in Korangi, Gulshan-i-Iqbal and Malir in Karachi, and in Hyderabad. It said expansion to Sukkur, Larkana, Shaheed Benazirabad and Mirpurkhas was planned. That report does not confirm today’s class schedule or enrollment availability. Dawn’s training rollout report.

Dawn’s September 2025 event report said helmet use was mandatory for scheme scooters. Check the current official rules for any specific requirements; the available reporting does not identify an approved helmet or establish that a helmet is included with the scooter. The reported seven-year non-transfer restriction also should be confirmed against the latest official terms before relying on it.
