Did Sindh launch online vehicle services in January 2025?
The January 2025 start date in the headline is not confirmed by the official sources cited here. The Sindh Excise portal currently advertises online services, while the department’s app listing describes features and includes release notes dated November and December 2025. Those notes establish that the app described those features at the listed release points; they do not establish a January 2025 launch or uninterrupted availability. The department’s news page is an official place to check for announcements.
A Sindh Assembly record for a 26 January 2026 sitting says online services can be accessed through the department’s official website and reports that cash transactions at Motor Registration Authorities were removed. For a payment or transaction, follow the current instructions on the Sindh Excise portal, since available channels and workflows may change.
What can you do through Sindh Excise online services?
Pay motor-vehicle tax
The portal FAQ describes online motor-vehicle tax payment through multiple channels. It says users can register an account on the portal or mobile app, add multiple vehicles, view tax details, calculate charges and generate a PSID for payment. After successful payment, a confirmation SMS is sent to the registered mobile number. See the official FAQ for current instructions.

Access registration and transfer-related account services
The account-registration page says an account enables online tax payment, transfers, mutation, alteration, verification and registration. It requests personal and contact details, including name, email, mobile number, CNIC, province, city and address. The page’s account-service list does not by itself establish that every step of every registration or transfer can be completed online.
The Excise Sindh app listing describes online registration and lists features added in later release notes, including e-Card generation and sold-vehicle transfer requests. Confirm in the app or on the portal whether the particular service you need is available and what follow-up it requires.

How to get started online
- Open the official Sindh Excise tax portal and check its current instructions for your task.
- If you need an account, use the account-registration page and provide the requested personal and contact details.
- For tax payment, add your vehicle, review its tax details and calculated charges, then generate a PSID and follow the available payment instructions. Keep the registered mobile number available for the confirmation SMS described in the FAQ.
- For registration or a transfer, follow the task-specific workflow shown by the department. The general FAQ is not a complete checklist of documents, fees or in-person steps for every transaction.
Deadlines for transferring a vehicle in Sindh
The Provincial Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act, 2024, published as Sindh Act No. I of 2025, sets a deadline for reporting a sale and a separate deadline for the purchaser’s transfer. It states: “Within thirty (30) days of sale of any motor vehicle, the seller and purchaser shall report such sale of motor vehicle for transfer of ownership to the registering authority for issuance of new ownership certificate of registration as may be prescribed.” After the sale is reported, the purchaser must complete the transfer within 15 days. Consult the Act for the requirements that apply to your case.
The Act sets daily penalties and maximum caps for default, with amounts varying by engine-capacity band. There is no single rate that applies to every vehicle; check the Act’s penalty table rather than relying on a general estimate.

Check current fees and transaction requirements
The department says motor-vehicle tax is levied under the Sindh Motor Vehicle Taxation Act, 1958 and Motor Vehicle Rules, 1959. Its motor-vehicle tax page lists registration-fee categories and transfer-fee information. Because charges depend on vehicle details and schedules can change, use the current department page or the portal’s calculation instead of assuming a fixed fee.
