What is changing, and what is available on paper?
The available manufacturer information points to two different decisions: a current Porsche Taycan with a 2026 model-year update, and Maserati’s 2027 Folgore grand tourers. It does not confirm local inventory, transaction prices or delivery dates for either brand. Treat a model announcement as a reason to ask dealers questions, not proof that a car is orderable or will arrive by a particular date.
Porsche Taycan: a model-year update, not a reason every buyer must wait
Porsche announced its Taycan model-year changes on June 17, 2026. The update includes optional E-Shift, which simulates gear changes, updated Porsche Electric Sport Sound and infotainment changes. E-Shift is optional across variants and body styles, but standard on the Taycan Turbo GT. Porsche also describes a Manthey Kit for the Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach Package, available as a factory option or retrofit. Porsche says certain rear-wheel-drive entry-level models can be equipped with low-rolling-resistance summer tyres; with Performance Battery Plus, that specified configuration can achieve up to 700 km under the WLTP test cycle. This is not a general real-world range promise, nor should it be compared directly with Maserati’s US estimates. Confirm the rating used in your market and the exact configuration when considering a car.

Maserati Folgore: announced 2027 coupe and convertible
Maserati’s US electric-car page presents the 2027 GranTurismo Folgore as an 800-volt, three-motor coupe rated by Maserati at 751 hp, with a stated top speed of 202 mph and estimated range of up to 251 miles. It presents the 2027 GranCabrio Folgore as a four-seat convertible with a retractable soft top, 800-volt architecture, 751 hp, a stated top speed of 180 mph and estimated range of up to 249 miles. These are manufacturer specifications and estimates for Maserati’s US page, not independent test results: Maserati’s US electric models.
A June 18, 2026 Maserati announcement says Folgore range is improved but does not quantify the change. The announcement therefore does not establish how much farther the 2027 models travel than earlier versions. Use the US page’s stated estimates as estimates, not as proof of a quantified year-over-year gain. Maserati’s announcement describes the update.

Decide whether the new model year matters to you
Waiting has a clear rationale if one of the announced Maserati body styles is the car you want, or if you specifically value a Taycan feature included in the 2026 update and cannot find it on a car you can buy now. But a newer model year is not automatically a better purchase: the changes only matter if they improve the experience or fit you want, and the announcement alone does not establish local delivery timing.
- Wait and investigate the Maserati: if the GranTurismo coupe or GranCabrio convertible is your target, ask a local dealer whether the 2027 model is orderable, what configuration is available and what delivery estimate can be put in writing.
- Consider a Taycan now: if its body style, trim and equipment meet your needs, ask whether the specific car is current or updated for the 2026 model year and verify which features it includes.
- Keep both in contention: if you are open to either, compare actual configurations and written offers rather than choosing by announcement date or headline specifications.
Compare the cars on the same terms
There is no apples-to-apples range, price or independent driving comparison established by the manufacturer information cited here. Make the decision with the particular cars and terms available to you.
